Experience the Finnish National Park

Finnish national parks are protected areas with unique natural features. Accessing them is encouraged, and they present a number of recreational possibilities.

There are 39 national parks in Finland, the surface area of which total 8 150 square kilometers. They’re scattered around the country’s archipelago, lakes, forests, peat lands and fells, and showcase the areas’ various natural characteristics, such as rapids, rift valleys and eskers. The main function of national parks is protecting nature. However, provided certain basic rules are adhered to, anyone may wander freely inside them. Besides enjoying the scenery and spotting animals and plants, the parks present ideal opportunities for recreation like hiking, climbing, snowshoeing and other outdoor pursuits.
