Night of the Arts
Every year in August, the streets of Helsinki are filled with art enthusiasts, performance lovers and the culturally curious as the annual Night of the Arts begins.
This integral and intriguing part of the Helsinki Festival, the largest arts festival in Finland, hosts hundreds of different events in the city’s countless cultural venues. The night offers something of interest to everyone – from various flash mob type of activities and free concerts to workshops, open-door events and modern circus performances.
You can personally enjoy experiences as diverse as waltzing on the street or grabbing 15-minutes of fame by publicly performing on an open stage. You could even participate in a one-off mass performance, head for an outdoor cinema experience or listen to an impromptu poetry recital. It is the perfect opportunity to roam the streets of Helsinki, soak up its culture, be immersed in art and experience the magical August atmosphere.
Helsinki is a modern, pocket-sized European city known for design and high technology. Helsinki’s attractive and unique character comes from its proximity to the sea, as well as its location between the East and the West.
