PIGEONS OF THE NIGHT
The Urban Pigeon – Tram Stop Party took place on top of the brand new KAOS tram stops, created by the award-winning Finnish designer Stefan Lindfors. The inauguration included performances by famous Finnish dancers Mari Rosendahl and Samuli Roinainen.

MUSIC ON THE TOP OF YOUR STOP
During the Night of the Arts, the Urban Pulu orchestra played a one-night-only concert on top of a new KAOS tram stop. The band consisted of Samuli Laiho, Teho Majamäki, Burton and the stop's designer Stefan Lindfors.

ENTER THE BALLOON
A huge hot air balloon, constructed from recycled plastic bags was a big hit among visitors to Lasipalatsi Square. The Aero Solar Balloon project was a unique artwork organised by the We Love Helsinki community and was made by volunteers.

JUGGLING IN THE OPEN AIR
Anyone can be an acrobat – at least for one night. Sirkus Magenta & The Geriatrobats offered an open street circus workshop as well as giving performances in Sinebrychoff park.

GATHERING IN THE NIGHT
Visitors gathered on the steps of Helsinki Cathedral to enjoy the magical atmosphere and watch the main event of the night.

Night of the Arts
Every year in August, the streets of Helsinki are filled with art enthusiasts, performance lovers and the culturally curious as the annual Night of the Arts begins.
This integral and intriguing part of the Helsinki Festival, the largest arts festival in Finland, hosts hundreds of different events in the city’s countless cultural venues.
Something for everyone
The night offers something of interest to everyone – from various flash mob type of activities and free concerts to workshops, open-door events and modern circus performances.
You can personally enjoy experiences as diverse as waltzing on the street or grabbing 15-minutes of fame by publicly performing on an open stage. You could even participate in a one-off mass performance, head for an outdoor cinema experience or listen to an impromptu poetry recital.
It is the perfect opportunity to roam the streets of Helsinki, soak up its culture, be immersed in art and experience the magical August atmosphere.
