Canoeing and Kayaking
The best way to see the country is the silent way. That way the wildlife can't hear you, but you can see them. When you are paddling along the shore you might see a deer coming down to the water to drink. You could see a pike looking up at you out of the water, or a pair of swans swimming majestically, together with their newly-hatched young.
The abundance of waterways and water routes in Finland is unique. There are vast stretches of interlocking rivers, lakes, canals and channels, so that you can travel for weeks and never have to portage. You can choose a short, relaxing canoe or kayak trip lasting a few hours, or go on a canoe trip lasting days or even weeks. Routes are varied, mainly sheltered and suitable for both canoeing and kayaking.

Canoeing is fantastic sport that enables you to glide silently and smoothly across a clear lake. One of the best places for canoeing in Finland is on the extensive waterways of Saimaa.
