Golf
It's easy to go golf crazy in Finland. Imagine the situation. It is midsummer. You get home from work at six. You have a quick dinner and then head straight to the course to tee off - even as late as eight o'clock. And it's still daylight when you sink that last 30-foot putt at midnight.
But you're on vacation, so you can really go crazy. The sun is shining already at four a.m. Get a round in before breakfast, and another one before lunch. And another eighteen holes in the afternoon. Have some dinner, relax in the sauna, and then practice some putting.
There are more than 100 golf courses in Finland. That's not as many as in Britain or the United States, of course, but there aren't so many people, either. So there are far fewer players per course than in most other golfing countries. And since the day is so long, golfers are spread out around the clock. Not everyone is trying to tee off at the same time
There are dozens of Midnight and Marathon Tournaments each summer. Midnight Golf Tournaments usually start or end at midnight, or they are played all night under the Midnight Sun. Marathon Golf Tournaments feature three or even four rounds of competitive golf in one day.
The golf season in Finland lasts from May until September, sometimes longer. You can also play golf in the winter, on ice.
