Border between Sweden and Russia
On this excursion you can get to know the time when the Kymi River was the border between Sweden and Russia. During the trip, the guide will narrate the history of the 1788–90 Russo-Swedish War.
King Gustav III of Sweden crossed the Kymi River with flying flags in 1789 and turned the riverside into a battlefield. During the trip, the guide will narrate the history of the 1788–90 Russo-Swedish War, the Treaty of Värälä and the manor houses in the area. The route runs along both sides of the Kymi River, from Kouvola to Elimäki and Kuusankoski through Anjalankoski. Coffee can be enjoyed in the restaurant Kymen Paviljonki in Kuusankoski. There you can also become acquainted with the Finnish Paper Art Gallery and shop at the Pentik factory outlet.
