Ice Breaker Mini-Cruises
The frozen sea looks like a vast Arctic wilderness, with ice as far as you can see. The Sampo operates on the northern Gulf of Bothnia out of the port of Kemi in Finnish Lapland. After serving for thirty years as an icebreaker in Arctic waters, the vessel has been given a new task – to act as a cruise ship for ice adventurers.
The excursion begins with a snowmobile ride to the icebreaker, followed by an introduction to the vital work of these ships in keeping the sea lanes open for foreign trade. You can also try swimming in a waterproof thermal suit among the broken ice blocks. Excitement guaranteed.
