Winter Driving
Anything you can do on land you can also do on ice. To cut the distances in the winter there are ice roads across the frozen lakes - and even across the frozen sea. Finns are well-known as rally drivers, from the heat of the Sahara to the cold of the Arctic. We don't let a little ice stop us. That just adds to the fun.
The Finnish Automobile Sport Federation has 320 member clubs with 32,000 individual members. Over the whole year, the members of the Federation arrange about 400 contests at national and international level for all kinds of motor sports, and many of these are arranged in winter. The biggest winter motor sports event in Finland is the Arctic Rally in the area of Rovaniemi, the main city of Finnish Lapland.
The Finnish Motorcycling Federation has 307 member clubs with 29,000 individual members, and organizes international meetings and World and European Championships in snowmobile racing, as well as summer events.
