New Espoo Metro Areena for events

The events arena located in the Tapiola Sports Park (Urheilupuisto) has been renamed Espoo Metro Areena.

The Mayor of Espoo Jukka Mäkelä explains that the new name communicates the opportunities that the metro brings to the area.

“The metro will connect the Sports Park to Tapiola so that it will become part of the area’s development and its wide range of commercial services and cultural activities. It will also connect the Sports Park to the business hub in Keilaniemi and the scientific community in Otaniemi. The trip from Tapiola to the Sports Park station, Urheilupuisto, will only take a minute,” he says.

“The aim is to use Espoo Metro Areena for a variety of events and boost the use of the venue as part of the long-term development of the Sports Park. The metro will open up new opportunities to develop the Sports Park area as well as areas surrounding the other new metro stations.”
