Snowmobile Safari to Search for the Northern Lights

This evening departure of a snowmobile safari will be a special experience to discover the magic of snowy forests in the night. Given extra light by the white snow reflection or the stars and the moon, we follow the snowmobile trails away from city lights and looking for the spot to admire the sky. The guide will light up a bonfire and we will enjoy a picnic while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. Everyone can grill traditional Finnish “makkara” sausages on the fire and we serve Lappish berry juice to keep yourself warm.

Chasing Northern Lights and River Diamonds

This is an unforgettable trip into Finnish nature. We go chase river diamonds with our cameras in the Konnevesi rapids. The next night, we chase Auroras on Lake Virmas. We also go hiking in the wintery forest and scale Hyyppäänvuori, where you can enjoy the silence of our clean nature coverded in white snow. We'll visit the Sirius Observatory in Hankasalmi, where we learn facts and fiction about the Northern Lights, space and stars. You'll also have a chance to try different kinds of relaxing saunas at the Revontuli Resort (smoke sauna, tent sauna, spell sauna).

Aurora Activity Week

Due to its location, Nuorgam is one of the best places to chase the northern lights. We have zero light pollution, and because of the cold, there are no clouds. This makes it possible to see the northern lights during 60–70% of winter nights. With any luck, you will see the northern lights dancing in the sky. But don't come just for the aurora borealis, come for arctic beauty and winter exploration. We take you to the wilderness by skis, snowshoes, and snowmobile. We will teach you ice fishing on the frozen lakes. You will visit a reindeer herder. Come and discover the Arctic.

Bonfire Under the Northern Lights

We head away from the village lights. We start a small bonfire and sit around it to grill some snacks. Listening to the bonfire in the darkness is a relaxing experience. Your guide tells stories of the magical nights which are never all that dark with all the stars and of course Northern Lights. We know that love hearing our stories, but don't forget to look up – maybe you will see the stories come to life.

Polar Lights Tour – Night Safari with Huskies

Experience an atmospheric evening with a Husky team driven by a guide. This 10-kilometre safari is a great opportunity to admire the starry sky – and if you are lucky, see the Northern Lights. After the ride, we enjoy sweet and salty pancakes with hot juice by the campfire in a traditional ”kammi”. Duration about 2 hours.

Aurora Borealis Picnic

We start from your hotel and drive to the lakeside (approximately 25 km) away from the distracting city lights. If luck is on our side, we´ll do a short hike under the flaming Auroras and build a fire in a spot where the sky is open. And even if the sky is cloudy and we don’t spot any Auroras, sitting in the dark and tranquil nature is such a thrilling experience. Around the fire we will hear some stories about Aurora Borealis, both beliefs and facts, while the guide prepares some hot berry juice.

Aurora Hunting in the Pure Air of Pallas National Park

The cleanest air in Europe has been found in Pallas-Ylläs National Park, just 40 minutes from Levi. It is also one of the best places to spot the Northern Lights! Join our search for the Aurora Borealis while enjoying an easy walk in some of Lapland’s most breathtaking, untouched fell nature. We will also make a fire with our wilderness guide and enjoy hot drinks and sausages grilled over the open fire.

Northern Lights Safari

A memorable snowmobile safari in an enchantingly blue twilight forest. If the sky is clear and luck is on our side, you might see the Northern Lights and thousands of stars twinkling in the sky. The safari includes a break with hot juice for refreshment.

Exciting Northern Lights Drive

Come enjoy the wild nature and beautiful wintery scenery of Vuokatti on snowmobiles. Our professional guide gives you instructions for driving and information about snowmobiles before we start driving. Driving a snowmobile in the dusk is exciting, even if you have some experience with snowmobiles. With a bit of luck, we can admire the fantastic natural show of Aurora Borealis.

Aurora Holiday

This is not just any old Aurora chasing tour, but a chance to experience the northernmost town in the EU, where the odds you'll see the northern lights are the highest! A very special adventure is waiting for you! Included: 5 nights accommodation in a high quality cottage (with sauna) 3 nights chasing the northern lights for 4–5 hours (or more) Transport to and from Ivalo airport Hot drinks, hot soup and snacks while out chasing the auroras Warm clothing if needed, but do see our clothing page for what you should bring Firewood for your riverside fire Tour of Utsjoki village Free Wi-Fi

Hunting Northern Lights

There can be few better ways to witness an autumn Aurora than from one of the Aurora Camps near Lake Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. While the Northern Lights dance above your head, they can also be reflected in the calm waters of Finland’s third largest lake – simply breathtaking. To witness these wonderful reflections you must head to Lapland before winter sets in and the lake freezes. You can enjoy a traditional meal of reindeer sausages and some blueberry tea, all the while watching those wondrous lights in the sky, the Aurora Borealis!

Night of Reindeers and Northern Lights

Escape with us from the city for a night of reindeer culture and Auroras. Visit a traditional Finnish reindeer farm about 60 km from Rovaniemi and learn all about reindeer husbandry and the daily life of caring for them. Enjoy a traditional reindeer meat meal prepared right at the farm. After dinner, it's time to go out to our Northern Lights viewing location, where we’ll make a campfire and our guide will explain this amazing natural phenomenon.

Excursion to Aurora Borealis Camp by Bus

This excursion takes you to the Aurora Borealis camp located 10 km away from the city lights with unlimited view to the northern sky. At the resort you will find the Aurora Borealis theatre built inside a massive snow igloo, presenting a film about the myths and facts about this natural phenomenon. You will also have time to roam around the resort, take a brisk sleigh ride in a snowmobile-drawn sleigh, or you can just lay back in the snow by the open fire and admire the northern sky. And don’t forget to enjoy the traditional reindeer burgers cooked on the open fire in our kota (teepee)!

Hunt for Northern Lights and Lappish Barbecue

Come join us for an evening out of the city, as we take you from your hotel to great viewing locations for the best chance to see the spectacular Northern Lights! You will get a chance to try out snowshoes and enjoy a traditional meal of reindeer sausages, boletus mushroom soup, and blueberry tea, all while we watch the skies overhead for those wondrous lights in the sky, the Aurora Borealis!

Reindeer Safari and Northern Lights Hunting

This is a night to remember! Travel by car for 20 minutes to the start of the adventure at a local reindeer farm. Once you arrive, meet the animals and learn a little about them before taking a seat in a traditional sleigh, pulled by reindeer. Travel through snowy forests sitting comfortably, and who knows, perhaps the Northern Lights paint the skies in shades of green above you. A hot cup of coffee with a bun is served around a campfire. You also get up close to the reindeers and learn about reindeer husbandry from the friendly herders.

Aurora Borealis Safari by Snowmobile

Experience the Arctic night by driving through a snow-covered forest and on the frozen sea. With a little luck, you’ll travel under a bright sky lit by the moon and the stars. Perhaps the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights – will appear to show you the way. Sip warm beverages by a campfire and learn more about the Northern Lights and Lapland.

Northern Light Hunting by Snowmobile

As the white snow affords more light by reflecting the stars and the moon, we follow the snowmobile trails away from the lights of Ruka and look for the perfect spot to admire the sky. Your guide will light up a campfire and we will enjoy a picnic while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. Everyone can grill traditional Finnish sausages on the fire as we serve Lappish berry juice to keep you warm. Remember to bring a tripod for your camera!
