Santa Claus Office

Meet Santa Claus in person and spend your own unforgettable moment with him. Santa Claus Office is open every day of the year, entrance is free of charge. Your meeting is photographed and filmed by a professional photographer-elf. Photos, video and a variety of souvenirs are available at the Santa Claus Office Shop. For over three decades Santa Claus has met visitors in Santa Claus Office at the Arctic Circle. Santa Claus Office is located in Santa Claus Village with good transport links. It wouldn't be Lapland without him!

Visit to a Genuine Local Reindeer Farm

Visit a local reindeer farm where you will meet the young owners who are introducing you the local life of reindeer herders. Reindeer are semi-domesticated, and every animal is owned by a herder. In Northern Lapland, reindeer husbandry is still a major source of income for many. You can see and feed the animals while listening to their incredible stories. These activities offer great possibilities for taking photos and experiencing authentic wilderness life. Warm drinks are offered by the open fire.

Viking Village Tour

The entrance fee to the Viking Centre includes a guide map for the village and all exhibitions. For a richer experience you can book a guide for the tour, and we will also teach you how to throw a Viking axe!

Salpalinja History and Bunkers – Guided Tour

Salpalinjan Hovi is located on top of the Salpalinja defense line that was built in the 1940s to protect Finland from the Soviet Union. You can find two underground machine gun bunkers and an enormous three-story lodging-cave very close to the hotel, borrowed into the rock. According to different sources, the cave was supposed to accommodate 60 to 100 soldiers. While staying at Salpalinjan Hovi, you can explore these remarkable sites of Finnish war history with an expert guide.

Nature Friendly Family Rafting

Before we head into the first rapid we’ll practice our rafting skills and safety instructions on a lake. At first we get to explore class 1 rapids – this will be a good warm up! In class 2 rapids we will test our team work skills and have fun. The final rapid class III Harjakoski will give you a good challenge and a nice refreshing splash of water! While paddling the river downstream we can experience the nature around us and enjoy the sound of birds and streaming water. Bigger lake areas we drive trough by nature-friendly electric outboard engine or four stroke outboard engine.

Korsholm Music Festival

Since 1983, Korsholm Music Festival has invited leading Nordic and international chamber music artists to perform in unique surroundings at historic concert halls, museums, rustic archipelago rooms and wooden churches. This unique event provides an opportunity to hear new and early chamber music at atmospheric concert venues set amidst the splendid scenery of the Ostrobothnian coast. This Japanese guided tour takes you to the main shooting sites of the movie ”Kamome Shokudo”. First we enjoy a walk and a coffee break by the campfire in the forest at the Nuuksio National Park. Shopping time at the Arabia Factory Shop and a Finnish lunch at Cafe Suomi are also included.

Visit the Rauma Maritime Museum!

The Rauma Maritime Museum offers you an in-depth view of the maritime cultural heritage in Rauma, the third-oldest town in Finland, to which the sea and seafaring have always been vitally important. The museum offers experiences for children as well. In most museums, touching is not allowed – the Maritime Museum encourages children to learn by playing and touching artifacts that are marked with red dots. The navigation simulator Jenny is also a visitor favourite. Guided museum tours in English are available – please book ahead!

In the magnificent former paper head office combine we hear stories about the pioneers of the Finnish paper industry. Evocative exhibitions present history by means of drama and various medias. The intensely dramatised main exhibition Paper Devil presents the colourful life and hazardous business affairs of the mill founder G. A. Serlachius.

Lady Starck, the captain's wife takes us on a walking tour through the 19th century town with wooden houses and tells about the town's maritime history as well of the families and houses of her acquaintances and neighbours.

Village Life, Tradition and Nature in Mathildedal (3 days)

Helsinki Design Week Festival

Helsinki Design Week is the largest design festival in the Nordic countries. Held annually in September, the multidisciplinary festival presents design from a number of fields as well as fashion, architecture and urban culture. The festival programme contains around 200 events every year, such as Design Market, exhibitions and installations.

Lemin Särä

Särä is a delicious lamb dish that follows a 1000 year old tradition. Slow baking guarantees a delicious taste experience. In a genuine Lemi way, Särä is enjoyed slowly, and you can have as many servings as you like. Restaurant Säräpirtti is located in Lemi, a half an hour’s drive from Lappeenranta, and managed by the second generation of the Hietaranta Family. It is the only restaurant in Finland specialising in a single dish. We cook Särä throughout the year and serve it with "Eat all you can" principle. A traditional Särä meal consists of Särä, home-made rieska bread and beer.
