Museum Walk

Are you a hardcore museum-goer? Get a Museum Walk card and save big! As a Museum Walk cardholder, you can visit any of the twelve participating museums once. The card also offers other benefits, such as discounts on museum shop purchases. The Museum Walk card can be purchased at the Visit Turku Tourist Information office and its online shop.

Critters and Plants – Introducing Archipelago Flora and Fauna

With the help of a guide, you can familiarize yourself with the archipelago's nature by examining typical plants and trees on the seashore and in forests, not forgetting the tiny creatures that live there. In addition, you can learn about the local ecosystem, environmental challenges and ways to overcome these challenges. The hands-on methods make sure this informative programme is not just a lecture, and you can really get in touch with the nature of the archipelago. There is also an option to add an after-dark programme focusing on bats.

Culture Pass

One ticket, three attractions! Culture pass is a handy way to experience the most interesting attractions in Rovaniemi! With the pass you can learn about the history of Lapland and Arctic research in Arktikum, get to know northern contemporary art in Korundi House of Culture and familiarize yourself with the many meanings of northern forests in Science Centre Pilke. Culture pass is personal and valid for seven days.

Rikalanmäki Heritage Trail

Rikalanmäki, on the western side of the Halikko River in Salo, is one of the most important ancient sites in Finland. It had already developed into an important trading site and marketplace in the Iron Age, as coastal waterways converged with inland trading routes. Today, a Heritage Trail tours the archaeological sites and the nearby Fort Hill. We offer Guided Tours of the Heritage Trail and our Traditional Building Technique Centre, combined with lectures, food and events at our restaurant.

The Secret Life of Trees

Let the shaman drum lead you on a fascinating 8 km hike to the rock paintings of Värikallio, one of the most interesting sights in Hossa National Park. On the way, you will hear interesting stories about trees and old Finnish beliefs concerning nature. You will learn interesting things about the Language of Trees and forests in Finland – maybe you will even find your own Power Tree. Guided Tour in Tytyrin Mine Museum

The Tytyri Mine Museum is located underground in a real limestone mine. The visitors get to experience the genuine feeling of the mines as they explore the cool and damp mine galleries. Visit to 100 metre-wide and 100 metre-deep underground cave gives a good picture of the huge size of Tytyri limestone mine.

Ahola Museum

Visit the birthplace of Lake Tuusula's artist community. The author Juhani Aho and painter Venny Soldan-Brofeldt moved to the villa in 1897 and laid the foundation for a community of artists on the shores of Lake Tuusula. The couple's long-term residence exhibits their lifework. Aho, who is considered Finland's national author, was also a vigorous outdoorsman. Soldan-Brofeldt was a visual artist, who was also influential amongst art educators and the feminist movement.

Palander House

Palander House presents the lifestyle of a bourgeois Hämeenlinna family 100 years ago. The museum showcases a variety of room ensembles, ranging from the elegant drawing room to the servants’ kitchen. The museum is located in the north-east corner of the city centre in an area with lots of period houses. Admission fee includes a guided tour which start every 30 minutes.

Guided Tour on the Sampo Icebreaker

Visit the icebreaker Sampo in the summer. On top of serving the Finnish government since 1961, Sampo has welcomed tourists aboard for 30 years already. Most parts of the icebreaker are open to visitors. Visits always include a guided group tour: listen to stories of the icebreaker's operation in Arctic conditions and winter on the frozen sea.

Life as a Reindeer Herder

Experience the life of a Sámi reindeer herder. Your journey starts at herder's home, where you snuggle into the snowmobile's sledge and join the herder to feed his reindeer in the forest. You may help feed the reindeer or just enjoy their company. Take a seat among the reindeer and enjoy a fresh coffee, brewed on the open fire. The feeding station offers an excellent opportunity to both observe and photograph the reindeer in the nature. The program lasts 2–3 hours, depending on the reindeer's location. Reservations on the previous evening at the latest.

Rye Bread Workshop: Dive into Finnish Food Culture

Finnish rye bread is made with love and unhurried enjoyment. The enchanting smell of freshly baked bread will turn any day into a celebration. The bread is baked with a sourdough starter that’s more than 100 years old, passed from generation to generation to this day. Rye bread can also be baked in a conventional electric oven, but it takes unhurried time and patience. We’ll take breaks from baking by going outside for coffee.
