Santa Claus Office

Meet Santa Claus in person and spend your own unforgettable moment with him. Santa Claus Office is open every day of the year, entrance is free of charge. Your meeting is photographed and filmed by a professional photographer-elf. Photos, video and a variety of souvenirs are available at the Santa Claus Office Shop. For over three decades Santa Claus has met visitors in Santa Claus Office at the Arctic Circle. Santa Claus Office is located in Santa Claus Village with good transport links. It wouldn't be Lapland without him!

Nature Experience

Enjoy a guided walking tour in the centre of Kristiinankaupunki as well as a guided tour along a nature trail in the vicinity of the city centre. Afterwards you will enjoy a lunch at the "Local Cave" restaurant and have a chance to visit the Wolf Cave on Susivuori. Objects found in the cave have brought about speculations that it could have been inhabited in the Paleolithic Era, 120 000 to 130 000 years ago. These objects would be the only known Neanderthal artifacts in the Nordic countries. In the afternoon, you can visit Storholmen Island and its nature trail.

The Secret Life of Trees

Let the shaman drum lead you on a fascinating 8 km hike to the rock paintings of Värikallio, one of the most interesting sights in Hossa National Park. On the way, you will hear interesting stories about trees and old Finnish beliefs concerning nature. You will learn interesting things about the Language of Trees and forests in Finland – maybe you will even find your own Power Tree. Once halfway to the rock paintings, we will enjoy a break with Chaga mushroom tea and Finnish delicacies.

A MuuMaa-day is a country adventure for families with children. In our summer program you can participate in different activities, like for example milking a cow or feeding the sheep with hay. At our lovely farm yard you will find lot of fun things to do, like riding a horse and hugging our cow-mascot, Mrs Muu.

The Kylmäpihlaja lighthouse island is a ruggedly beautiful island of rocks that offers experiences by the open sea. Experience a night in the lighthouse tower on the edge of the open sea: all rooms have sea views. The restaurant serves various delicacies from the archipelago. The Kylmäpihlaja island is easily accessible in the summer, thanks to the daily water bus connection.

Our Life – Guided Tour at Kellokas

Culture has always been tied to the area's natural environment and the possibilities it provides. Hear the story of the villages on the fells on this guided tour through the exhibition Our Life – Meän Elämää. The Väylä River has been a travel route, a vein that connects the entire area, and that has helped the area's diverse culture develop into something extraordinary. Language is held in great regard and there is a good deal of support to keep it alive. Guided tours should be booked in advance from the visitor centre.

Neristan, the Old Town of Kokkola

Near the Kokkola city centre lies one of our country’s most extensively preserved historical areas of wooden houses. The town plan is from the 1650s. It consists of 12 blocks with hundreds of wooden houses and outbuildings. The oldest are from the 17th century.

Love Letter Bracelet Workshop

Make your own Love Letter Bracelet with the help of a goldsmith. You can choose a letter, a symbol or a short word and stamp it on a silver disc. Then a silk string is attached to the disc and the bracelet is tied to your wrist. You can also choose a silver chain for an extra fee. The workshop takes approximately one hour for a group of 5.

Snowmobile Safari to the Levi Ice Gallery

We will enjoy the scenery while snowmobiling around the Levi fell to Luvattumaa. The 10 000 square meter snow and ice structure contains a snow hotel, snow chapel, ice bar, and an ice and snow art gallery. After a coffee break in the ”kota” restaurant, we will drive back to Levi through the beautiful forest scenery. Driving distance 35 km. Duration about 2–3 hours.

Sawmill Museum

The Makkarakoski sawmill at the heart of Noormarkku Works was converted into a museum in 2014. At the sawmill, you view the entire life cycle of the sawmill, as initially, it was run by hydropower, them by steam, and finally by electric power. The Makkarakoski sawmill was in operation for more than 200 years. It burned in 1875, and the current sawmill was built in its place. The current Makkarakoski sawmill was stopped in February 1956.

Trip to the Lappish Goldfields

Transport by car to an original Lappish goldfield located near Saariselkä. We will meet original gold diggers and learn about today's gold digging and panning methods. After learning the ways to find gold, we get the chance to try the hard work by ourselves. Shovels and pails are waiting for us at the ditch and off we go! After a while of hard work, the real gold digger helps us to find the gold and jewelry stones by panning. During the trip we'll have coffee and pancakes.

Ice Fishing on the Porvoo River or Baltic Sea with Visit and Lunch in Porvoo (3-4 hours )

We will meet at the agreed location in Porvoo. We will tell you how to proceed and soon you will drill your first hole in the ice and start fishing. Hopefully, you will catch a fish and get some nice photos. After this great fishing experience, we will walk in the Old Town of Porvoo and you will learn more about Porvoo’s history and Finnish culture. Our walk will lead us to a fish restaurant (except Sundays) where you can test all the delicacies our local fisherman have brought in.

The Great Coastal Road Exhibition

This exhibition at the Museum of Kymenlaakso tells about the Great Coastal Road and its builders and travellers. Today the road is a part of the European Road E18. People have been making their way on this road since the Middle Ages. The modest riding trail was made wider as it was used by armies, state officials, and common people alike. In the 20th century, cars replaced horses and new times favoured straight roads. Eventually, the road was transformed into a modern motorway. The venue also houses a colourful play area for children and small exhibitions with local themes.

Turku Design Tour

This tour guides you around the design stores of Turku, particularly the ones off the beaten path, like KUI Design, Klo Design, Televisio Lifestyle Store, Outolintu, PUF Designmarket, Aitoi and Punainen Norsu. The tour introduces you to the handicraft traditions of Turku, and includes a stop at the Turku Market Hall to visit Finland’s best bakery, MBakery, for a coffee and a piece of Kiss My Turku cake.

A 3 hour walking tour in Helsinki including the following sights: the Senate Square, Esplanade, University Library, Railway Station and Music Center. Including also approximately a one hour walk on a nature track by the sea and forest. There's also a possibility to explore the Finnish sauna culture as well, if interested.
