Sibelius Finland Experience

An authentic and entertaining 1-hour cultural experience. Quality live music performances of Sibelius’s compositions – Finlandia, Spruce, Romance, Rondino and Valse Triste – with great talent on the violin and grand piano. Serlachius Museum Gösta

The Serlachius Museums Gösta and Gustaf offer a contact point for the friends of high quality art and good stories. Gösta shows contemporary art at the new internationally awarded pavilion and the pearls of the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation's collection at old Joenniemi manor. Restaurant Gösta: the pure tastes of local ingredients.

Dressed with Pride

Dressed with Pride is a permanent exhibition at the Craft Museum of Finland and presents traditional outfits from different parts of Finland in various eras. The exhibition draws attention to the remarkable level of detail in the costumes: flax and wool fabrics, pewter brooches, colourful stripe patterns on skirts, headgear and pockets. The exhibition is curated by the National Costume Centre of Finland, which works as part of the Craft Museum of Finland.

Guided Tour to the Didrichsen Art Museum

We offer guided tours for groups with different interests. Besides our current exhibition the focus of the tour can be e.g. on architecture and design, sculptures in the surrounding sculpture garden or our Pre-Columbian or Oriental collections. Coffee and snacks can be arranged for the group. During the summer season you can relax and enjoy the scenery from our sea view terrace.

A Journey in Time

This permanent exhibition timeline at the Craft Museum of Finland charts the most definitive phenomena in the history of crafts. The texts and images are only a tiny scratch on the surface of the interesting and diverse past of crafts. The journey starts from thousands of years back, the time before calendars or clocks, and moves towards our modern times.

Meidän Festivaali – Our Festival

The landscapes of Lake Tuusula near Helsinki form the crucible of the Finnish cultural world. Pekka Kuusisto is a well-known violinist, whose award-winning Our Festival seeks new perspectives on musical encounters and concert practices, with an emphasis on giving the audience an experience that cannot be found elsewhere. Our Festival takes place in July at various locations in the landscapes of Lake Tuusula, only half an hour’s drive north of Finland’s capital, Helsinki. The programme will be announced later in the spring.

Salpalinja History and Bunkers – Guided Tour

Salpalinjan Hovi is located on top of the Salpalinja defense line that was built in the 1940s to protect Finland from the Soviet Union. You can find two underground machine gun bunkers and an enormous three-story lodging-cave very close to the hotel, borrowed into the rock. According to different sources, the cave was supposed to accommodate 60 to 100 soldiers. While staying at Salpalinjan Hovi, you can explore these remarkable sites of Finnish war history with an expert guide.

Walking Tour with Lady Starck

Lady Starck, the captain's wife takes us on a walking tour through the 19th century town with wooden houses and tells about the town's maritime history as well of the families and houses of her acquaintances and neighbours.

Learn Needle Felting with our expert Elena, a textile designer and felt maker from Finland. Our courses are suitable for all – no previous experience is necessary. You will definitely make something unique, relax, have fun, and eventually feast your eyes on something you made with your own hands. All our products are handmade to ensure the highest quality.

Nordic Walking between the Serlachius Museums

We take a nordic walk from one Serlachius Museum to another one to discover a top quality cultural destination. The route leads us through the beautiful forest and lake landscapes. The destination is either the internationally awarded Serlachius Museum Gustaf where we learn stories of history or Art Museum Gösta that has been internationally awarded for its wood architecture. Serlachius Museum Gösta was nominated the Museum of the Year 2015 in Finland.

Helsinki Winter World

Experience Lapland's wonderful winter in the city of Helsinki! Snow attractions and activities are available in any weather: igloos, ice sculptures, ice bar, toboggan hill, kick-sledding and tandem skiing. Everything is built inside a huge sports hall using snow and ice. Our weather forecast of the day is always -3 degrees Celsius, no wind, steady weather conditions. Open for individual visits from May to August, husky rides on request.

Järvenpää Art Museum

Experience the golden age of Finnish art at its birthplace. At the Järvenpää Art Museum, you can see the works of two significant Finnish painters, Eero Järnefelt and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt. Both belonged to the community of artists which lived in the Lake Tuusula region at the turn of the 20th century. Many of the works of Eero Järnefelt and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt were painted in the immediate vicinity of the present-day museum. The museum also hosts exhibits by contemporary artists and a museum shop. The museum is easily accessible and is a short walk from the Järvenpää railway station.

Korundi House of Culture

Korundi House of Culture is the home of Rovaniemi Art Museum and Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Korundi hosts exhibitions of Finnish modern art that astound and delight visitors, and the acoustically unique concert hall provides a wonderful venue for sweet strains of music. Originally constructed in 1933 to serve as a mail truck depot, Korundi has been remodeled by the architectural firm Juhani Pallasmaa, and is one of the few buildings to remain intact and standing in Rovaniemi after World War II.

Feel the Arctic

Experience the beauty of the Arctic wilderness with native Sámi reindeer herders. You are welcome to participate in the daily life of the Sámi herders, hunt for the Northern Lights, try reindeer sledding and spend the evenings in a traditional tent where you can learn more about the nomadic life of the European Union's only indigenous people. This is absolutely off of the beaten path! Your journey starts from and finishes in Finland but you will explore Norway as well.

Guided Tour at Serlachius Museum Gösta

We get acquainted with the Art Museum Gösta, Museum of the Year 2015 in Finland. Art Museum Gösta's exhibitions cover two buildings: the classics of the Golden Age of Finnish art from the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation's collections will be on show at Joenniemi manor, the former private residence of Gösta Serlachius. The internationally renowned pavilion, an example of modern wood construction, showcases top contemporary art.

Postimäki Open Air Museum and Cultural Heritage Site

Since the latter part of the 1960’s, Postimäki has been associated with outdoor theater, music, crafts and its coffee house. Today group guiding, visits from school classes and other public events are also part of the activities. A majority of the cottages are furnished in accordance with their past, and include a straw museum, a shoemaker’s workshop and a smithy.
