Arktikum

Arktikum is a science center and museum that lets you experience northern nature, culture, and history up close. Housing the University of Lapland’s Arctic Center and the Provincial Museum of Lapland, we stimulate thought, encourage debate, and provide a deeper understanding of the Arctic, both for new visitors and for those who call the North home. Circus with the Stars

Cirque du Soleil trapeze artist, Pauliina Räsänen, and world champion acrobat, Slava Volkov, are offering a unique opportunity to spend an enthralling day participating in circus-art workshops. The program includes a circus-art workshop where participants will learn various circus disciplines such as the tightrope, the trapeze, acrobatics, as well as manipulation and juggling skills. No previous circus experience is required and exercises are designed according to capabilities. Groups will also pay a visit to the Kustavi Clay Workshop in the heart of the archipelago.

Magic of the Finnish Woods

Experience the Finnish wilderness and northern mythologies during our walking trip into the woods of Nuuksio National Park. Listen to stories from The Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, and learn about the power of the shamans and nature spirits. Find out myths and facts about the bear, the king of the woods and the national animal of Finland. Visit the Bear-Hut, where you will meet a very convincing brown bear. Learn the traditions of ancient Finns and enjoy the beauty of Finnish nature. After the trip, you can enjoy traditional Finnish food grilled on the campfire.


Remote Helsinki

Remote Helsinki is a mixture of performance, excursion, computer game and quest. These 100 minutes will change your perception of Helsinki. Remote Helsinki is intended for 50 people who will walk along a carefully selected route wearing headphones and guided by an Artificial Intelligence. They will take part in an exciting performance/excursion, with streets, shops, the metro and much more supporting the theatrics. Remote Helsinki is a performance beginning in the ground and ending in the sky.

Helsinki Tour + Sibelius Visit

Welcome on our tour of Helsinki with all the highlights. Visit the home of Jean Sibelius, our national composer, with a musical program at Villa Kokkonen, where our hosting artists will sing and play for you. Learn all about Sibelius and the artist community living around Tuusula in the early 20th century. The tour includes all entry fees to the main sights of Helsinki as well as Sibelius' home visit and coffee, cake and concert at Villa Kokkonen.

Flora Tours

Guided tours with small groups through South Karelia's wilderness and gardens. South Karelia is famous for its endemic species – among them flowers like the beautiful and very rare arctic violet (Pulsatilla Vernalis). It is also known as the lady of the snows, as it blossoms very early in the spring. It is highly endangered and you are not allowed to pick them. It is the county flower of South Karelia. Another Ice Age relic is the sand pink (Dianthus Arenarius) which blossoms in July. South Karelia has quite a many beautiful private gardens that are open for visitors, too.

The Many Faces of Finnish Forest

The history and the legends of Finnish forest industry are presented with a dash of humor, as well as national art treasures inspired by the forest nature at the Serlachius Museums. Forest’s culinary goods on the plate at Art Museum’s Restaurant Gösta and a short trip to the actual forest along with a good meal and sleep in the sylvan manor. The small town amid the beautiful forest and lake landscape offers its visitors a variety of possibilities to experience Finnish nature.

ArtHelsinki Exhibition

An international fair for contemporary art.ArtHelsinki stated its new vision for an internationally pertinent contemporary art fair during its 2015 edition with Helsinki Highlights, which presented an installation composed of a variety of art initiatives acting locally and operating internationally.

Guided Tour at Serlachius Museum Gustaf

In the magnificent former paper head office combine we hear stories about the pioneers of the Finnish paper industry. Evocative exhibitions present history by means of drama and various medias. The intensely dramatised main exhibition Paper Devil presents the colourful life and hazardous business affairs of the mill founder G. A. Serlachius.

Grab your favourite bottle of wine and visit a Finnish home! Red or white, it’s up to you. We will organize a host who prepares a Finnish meal for you and introduces their choice of wine as well. While you enjoy the dinner and wine, you have a great opportunity to learn about everyday life in Finland and our unique culture.

Touch – Contemporary Finnish and International Art Exhibition

"Touch" is the title of the new Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection Exhibition. The collection is on permanent display at EMMA, showcasing hundreds of works of art by Finnish and international artists dating from the early 1900s to the present. The overarching theme of the collection is humanity, a choice to which the collection naturally lends itself. The human being, identity, our physicality and interaction with the surrounding world have been central in contemporary art for the past decades.

The tranquility of the forest and the pure flavors of the nature will give you an unique experience of traveling back in time and of our tasty country gourmet.

Restaurant Ruukinranta

The restaurant Ruukinranta offers a large variety of food made out of local ingredients. The local fishermen and hunters deliver fish and meat directly to the restaurant. The fish is caught in the lake next to the restaurant (pike, pike-perch, perch and vendace). On the menu you also find several courses made of local wild elk (Alces alces).

Samiland Exhibition

The Samiland exhibition explores the Sami peoples' thousands of years of history, culture and mythology. Visit the indoor exhibition to find out about the differences between the Skolt Sami and the Mountain Sami as well as about the traditional occupations and ancient mythical characters of the Sami people. The outdoor exhibition will teach you more about traditional Sami buildings and reindeer herding.

Half-Day Visit and River Cruise in Porvoo (5–6 hours)

Discover the old city of Porvoo, Finnish history, culture, and walking in silent nature. Lunch in a typical restaurant, then we continue our visit along the river and in the empire part of the city. In the afternoon we will visit nice spots with beautiful views. Possibility to rent bicycles to see more places outside the town. River cruise on historical Porvoo River also included.

UNESCO World Heritage Site Sammallahdenmäki

This unique area reflects the religious beliefs and burial practices of a community in Western Finland in the Scandinavian Bronze Age and early Iron Age (1500–50 BCE). Spanning less than a kilometre, the area feartures 36 burial cairns of different shapes and sizes. The largest and most famous cairn in the area is called Kirkonlattia (Church Floor). Sammallahdenmäki is a Bronze Age burial site that was included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1999. It was the first archaeological site in Finland to make the list.

Walking Tour with Lady Starck

Lady Starck, the captain's wife takes us on a walking tour through the 19th century town with wooden houses and tells about the town's maritime history as well of the families and houses of her acquaintances and neighbours.

The Aalto Route follows in his footsteps, from classicism to modernism and from brick architecture to monumentalism. The route offers an insight into the cityscape and architecture of Jyväskylä.
