Guided Tours in Siida

Guided tours arranged visiting Siida’s permanent exhibitions and, in summer, also in the Open-Air Museum. We would like to especially recommend our guided tours for groups. The guided tours must be booked in advance.

Ahlström Voyage

The extensive Ahlström Voyage exhibition tells the history of Ahlström from the year 1851 and illustrates the present day of the Ahlström companies. The exhibition presents the architecture of the Noormarkku Works, the development of the area into its present form, and its residents and trades.

The Northernmost Zoo in the World in Ranua

The zoo is situated 80km south of Rovaniemi and it takes about an hour to get there by car or bus. There you will take an interesting stroll through the zoo, where you can see animals and birds that live in natural conditions of northern latitudes. You will be offered to eat dinner in a cozy restaurant. Tourist will have an opportunity to visit souvenir shops, the Fazer candy factory shop, the local wine shop, where they sell unique wines made of wild berries: cloudberries, cowberries, bilberries etc.

Lampivaara Amethyst Mine is a fascinating travel destination all-year-round. The amethysts of Lampivaara fell was born 2 000 million years ago in the bowels of the ancient mountains. There is now a gem mine on top of the hill that will sustain for the hundreds of years. During the guided tour you will hear the stories of geology and history in addition to the properties of the gems and the uses of amethyst. Note that you will be able to dig your own personal lucky amethyst!

Meeting with Santa's Family

A meeting with Santa Claus' wife and elves is waiting for you. Together you will get to decorate a Christmas tree, make a gingerbread house, sing carols and dance together with Santa Claus and his family members. Santa will give small presents to every child. The package also includes transfers, guide service, program, sweet Christmas table and a gift for children.

Dramatic Guided Tour with Katarina, the Lady of the Raseborg Castle

A dramatic guided tour with Katarina, the lady of the castle takes place regularly during summer and by request other times of the year. The Raseborg Castle ruins are a unique attraction, originally built in the 1370's. Katarina lived in the castle during the 1470's and tell the visitors about everyday life during the Medieval era. Combine with a meal at the Castle Guard's Lodge (Slottsknektens stuga) or occasionally in the Knigth's Hall in the castle.

Cruise on Lemmenjoki

Many Lappish people consider Lemmenjoki National Park to be the most beautiful area in the province. Take a riverboat cruise, get acquainted with the Sami village of Lemmenjoki, and make a stop at the Ravadas waterfall. While having lunch on the shore by the fire, the guide will tell tales of gold mining, local reindeer herding and Sámi culture.

Weekend in Helsinki

Welcome to Helsinki! The package includes the following City tour of Helsinki: visit to the Cathedral / Assumption Cathedral, Alexander II and Marshal Mannerheim monuments, the Esplanade, a famous fish market, Havis Amanda statue, composer Jan Sibelius' monument, and the famous built-in-the-rock Temppeliaukio Church. There's also some free time in Helsinki and/or chance to do additional excursions.

Porvoo City Tour

Porvoo is Finland's second oldest town, a beautiful city full of history. The timeless and unique atmosphere in Old Porvoo attracts travelers from all over the world. The settlement in the Porvoo region began during the 13th and 14th centuries, and the town is mentioned in documents in the early 14th century. The Old Town provides one of Porvoo's most colorful sights and tourist attractions. Old Porvoo is famous for its narrow lanes and brick-colored riverside warehouses. Duration of the tour is 2h, and includes guiding service, transfer (for the group 1-3 persons).

Celebrate Dance in Kuopio

The spectacular Kuopio Dance Festival is one of the most important regular celebrations of dance art in the Nordic countries. In addition to dance performances, the festival week will feature dozens of dance courses, street events, club evenings, parades and other attractions. The Artistic Director of Kuopio Dance Festival is the leading dancer and choreographer Jorma Uotinen.

Alvar Aalto in Kauttua

The package includes a guided tour in architectually famous Terrace House, designed by Alvar Aalto. Lunch or dinner in Kauttua Club and accommodation for one night is also included. Some of Artek's furniture in the Terrace House are also for sale.

Dinner at Ice Restaurant

Ideal for visitors! Before dinner, a guide will tell you about the construction, operation and special features of the SnowHotel during a tour through the hotel's beautiful rooms and arctic specialities, such as the snow sauna. At the end of the tour, you can visit the ice bar and buy a shot served in a glass made from ice. Then you will be served a three-course dinner at the Ice Restaurant. At the end of the night, you will be transported back to Rovaniemi. Available: Dec 20 – Mar 31

Visit in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Verla

During a visit to the UNESCO Heritage Site Verla Groundwood and Board Mill museum you can relive early history of the forest industry and life in a small village: the original mill buildings and machinery with the 19th century methods, the patrons residence, the surrounding area and the idyllic worker's cottages as well as the Verla rapids and its power plants. In summer, the village workshops and boutiques are a further attraction. Demonstrations are given on special craft days. There are also exhibitions and a new history walk - a short route with information in the mill area.

Science Centre Pilke

Are you attracted to northern forests? If so, you will love Science Centre Pilke in Rovaniemi. Pilke tells about the northern forests and the many ways in which we are connected to them and the related products in our everyday lives. Located in the wooden Pilke House, the Science Centre provides an interactive experience suitable for visitors of all ages.
