Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge

A man sitting on a fishing rock, the smell of salmon soup and the constant roar of the rapids. It is the end of the 19th century, and the man on the rock is Tsar Alexander III, the Emperor of Russia, and the soup has been prepared by his wife, the Empress. In accordance with the wishes of the Emperor, an imperial fishing lodge was built at Langinkoski in 1889, which the imperial family used to visit annually. Today, the rapids are popular among fly fishermen and visitors can familiarize themselves with imperial history in the fishing lodge.

Restaurant Origo

Origo is located in Hanko. Origo was the first of the many restaurants operating today in the Eastern Harbour warehouses. Since 2001, the restaurant has been owned and operated by a local couple Joanna and Jan Westerling. Entering Origo, the guests can't miss the seafood buffet in the middle of the dining room. On our menu there is always, of course, also the traditional creamy salmon soup and Origo’s famous pepper steak. In addition, we offer each season's tastiest local offerings, such as asparagus, wild mushrooms, berries, fish, sheep, birds and venison.

Finnish Restaurant Savotta in Helsinki

Restaurant Savotta takes its guests directly from Senate Square to a nostalgic view of Finland from the past decades. Both authentic interior and the dishes have been inspired by the Finnish forests and thousands of lakes, with a dash of Finnish ”sisu”. Savotta´s kitchen cherishes the Finnish food traditions using only ingredients from the pristine forests, lakes and carefully selected small suppliers.

The beautiful Salutorget, located in the Empire style part of Helsinki, entices with its unassuming charm. The restaurant presents a clean and straightforward menu while the bar offers snacks and refreshments. In the summer, the terrace by the Market Square offers table service.

Craft – a Touch of Life

The permanent exhibition at the Craft Museum of Finland takes you on a trip to the past, to things perhaps familiar from your own childhood, like darning or mending a beloved woolly jumper. Crafts evoke memories from school years, be it after the war or only recently. The traditional Finnish death shirts provoke thoughts on how we would like to be dressed on our final journey. Customized Reino slippers, men's beard jewellery and knit graffiti represent today's trends.
