Restaurant Saari on Sirpalesaari Island

Get a taste of Finland by the open sea! Restaurant Saari is located on the island Sirpalesaari just a stone’s throw away from the centre of Helsinki. Saari provides the best Finnish delicacies of the season from land and sea as well as stunning views and genuine maritime atmosphere. A boat serves the island every 20 minutes during restaurants' opening hours from the Saari pier located on the shore of Merisatama. The crossing (approx. 200 m) takes only a couple of minutes.

Kuusisto Bishop's Castle Ruins

In the Middle Ages, the bishop's palace was not only the centre of spiritual life in Catholic Finland, but also the focal point of political power. The castle's story came to an end when King Gustav Vasa ordered the bishop's residence to be demolished after the Reformation. Ruins were all that remained of former glories.

Bunker Museum

The Bunker Museum in Virolahti is a military history museum and part of the fortification line built during wartime in 1940-41 and 1944 to safeguard the eastern border of Finland. The permanent exhibition includes an indoor display of the wartime atmosphere and the reasons behind the construction of the Salpa Line as well as a 15-minute multimedia short film on the Salpa Line's history. The outdoor museum area includes actual Salpa-Line fortifications amid Finnish nature.

Dramatic Guided Tour with Katarina, the Lady of the Raseborg Castle

A dramatic guided tour with Katarina, the lady of the castle takes place regularly during summer and by request other times of the year. The Raseborg Castle ruins are a unique attraction, originally built in the 1370's. Katarina lived in the castle during the 1470's and tell the visitors about everyday life during the Medieval era. Combine with a meal at the Castle Guard's Lodge (Slottsknektens stuga) or occasionally in the Knigth's Hall in the castle.


In the 18th century, a fort was erected on the Särkkä island to defend Helsinki. Särkänlinna restaurant was founded there in 1924. It is among the most unique restaurants in Finland. Restaurant Särkänlinna offers a historic and nautical setting for a memorable wedding or other summer event.

Museum Tour & Lunch

Enjoy a lovely lunch from Rauhala's traditional lunch buffet and learn about the history of Rauhala itself. You can also take a guided tour at the Oulu Art Museum or at the Northern Ostrobothnia Museum (duration about 1 hour). Both museums are at walking distance of 5-10 minutes from Rauhala.

Guided House Tour in Sibelius Hall

A masterpiece of modern wood architecture, combining a historic carpentry factory with modern architecture. Opened in March 2000, Congress and Concert Centre Sibelius Hall is a specimen of skillful wooden architecture and the largest public wooden building built in Finland in the past hundred years. The Sibelius Hall organizes guided tours for groups upon reservation. The house tour covers the history and architecture of the house and introduces the premises of Sibelius Hall. The house tour is available in Finnish, English, Swedish, French and Russian.
