Wintertime Amethyst Mine Visit

Have you ever wanted to unearth some hidden gemstones? Here is your chance! The Lampivaara Amethyst mine provides you the tools and guidance you need to dig up your very own amethyst! Ride the snowcat (a large treaded snow vehicle) up to the top of Lampivaara, where a beautiful view and the amethyst mine await you. Here you will use the tools of the trade, assisted by professionals, to dig up amethysts, and then you get to bring one of your finds home with you! If you’re lucky, you may even see the Northern Lights during kaamos (Polar Night)!

Autumn Colors Photo Tour in Lapland

Full spectrum of colors, day and night! Nature is told to dress in autumn colors 10th Sept at 10am in the north. Northern lights are already seen during the nights. Get to the most picturesque locations Lapland can offer and end up observing and photographing the wildlife in Kuhmo. All this will be guided by landscape photographer Valentino Valkaj.

Guided Walking Tour in Kultaranta Garden

The majestic granite manor house and garden on the shore of Naantalinlahti is most likely the most recognised summer residence in Finland. Since it is the place where our president spends the summer, Naantali is considered to be Finland's holiday capital.

Fazer Visitor Centre

Fazer is a 125-year old, international, family-owned business offering quality bakery, confectionery, biscuit and grain products as well as food and café services. The new Fazer visitor center is a result of Finnish design and houses an exhibition, a Fazer Café and a shop. It also offers meeting and event services from cooking classes to children’s birthday parties and weekend brunches. The well-known Fazer produce, long history, corporate responsibility and innovations give food for many an interesting story. These stories are told during the 1-hour guided tours.

Lighthouse Island Tankar

Today, Tankar is one of Finland's most important lighthouse islands in terms of tourism. The lighthouse from 1889, the chapel from 1754 and the Sealing Museum are the most popular attractions on the island. You can also enjoy a delicious traditional salmon soup on the outdoor patio.

Stundars Open Air Museum

Stundars is one of Finland's largest open air museums, an Ostrobothnian handicraft village and a very popular attraction south of Vaasa. During summer, you can walk around the museum village and run into "villagers" from 1917. You can participate in their chores or just have a chat with the farmer's wife, the school master or whomever you happen to meet during your stroll.

Explore the Secrets of Örö Island

The fortress island of Örö has been a part of Finnish military history from the times of Russian tsars. The island was closed off from the public until 2015 and only restricted entry was possible. Örö has around 20 km of hiking and nature trails. The island is home to many rare plants and has the largest variety of butterflies in all of Finland. The hotel and restaurant are renovated in protected old buildings. You can rent kayaks and bicycles on the island. Come and explore the fortress island!

Palander House

Palander House presents the lifestyle of a bourgeois Hämeenlinna family 100 years ago. The museum showcases a variety of room ensembles, ranging from the elegant drawing room to the servants’ kitchen. The museum is located in the north-east corner of the city centre in an area with lots of period houses. Admission fee includes a guided tour which start every 30 minutes.

Chef Jarmo Pitkänen offers an opportunity for small parties to enjoy the exquisite dinners of Studio Restaurant Tundra. Tundra, usually a private restaurant operating by orders only, now presents Tundra Chef’s Table that is open for guests on selected days, only a few times a month. Single diners, couples, or small parties are welcome to savour the pure northern aromas of Kuusamo, flavoured with an international twist.

Cosy Finnish Mölkky Evening

Mölkky is a Finnish game played with throwing pins. It is easy and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. During the Mölkky Evening you will learn to play the game with your local hosts. You are invited to their home to have a snack and beverages during the game evening. Most homes can host 1–4 guests, some up to ten. Bigger groups are divided to several locations. Mölkky is an outside game and can be replaced by indoors activity if the weather is poor. No special clothing is needed; comfort is key.

Radio and TV Museum

The Radio and TV Museum is situated on the beautiful Radio Hill area in Lahti, a vibrant lakeside city amidst the Salpausselkä ridge landscape in Southern Finland. The Radio and TV Museum offers plenty of interactive exhibits for visitors to try out and experience. You can listen to old radio programmes and familiar voices from years gone by. You can travel through different decades via old movie clips and TV programmes. Please note: The museum is closed at the moment. Renewed exhibitions open in late 2016.
