Walk in the Shadow of Architecture

Explore on foot the signature buildings of Turku’s modern architecture and other fascinating structures. Architect Alvar Aalto resided in Turku between 1927 and 1933. During this time Turku played a significant role in the emergence of new architecture and furniture design. On this tour a guide introduces you to the exterior of three transitional works of Aalto’s functionalism: the Maalaistentalo, the Turun Sanomat as well as a standard apartment building. The tour presents another functionalist, Erik Bryggmann. Hotel Hospits, Atrium and Student Union buildings are examples of his work.

The Salvador Dali Private Dinner is an opportunity to enjoy dining at its most elegant. Hosted in the Dali exhibition space in Pargas, your private dining experience will take place in the midst of the artist's sculptures. Your evening starts with a glass of Perelada Brut Rose, the sparkling wine Dali served to his own guests. The food is prepared using Dali's recipes and the wines are mostly taken from the Dali Wine Book. The kitchen is manned by Rotisseur-Chef Kjell Gustafsson.

The Great Coastal Road Exhibition

This exhibition at the Museum of Kymenlaakso tells about the Great Coastal Road and its builders and travellers. Today the road is a part of the European Road E18. People have been making their way on this road since the Middle Ages. The modest riding trail was made wider as it was used by armies, state officials, and common people alike. In the 20th century, cars replaced horses and new times favoured straight roads. Eventually, the road was transformed into a modern motorway. The venue also houses a colourful play area for children and small exhibitions with local themes.

Guided Excursion to Lainio Snow Village

We will take a bus to the Lainio Snow Village and get to know the village, snow hotel, snow bar and ice sculptures. You will learn how this magnificent castle was built. After the tour, we will have time to enjoy hot drinks in the cozy log bar at the castle. Duration about 2.5 hours.

Trail of Sands ('Santojen Lenkki' in Finnish) offers you the best parts of the unique dunes of Yyteri. In the forest dominated by pine and lichen, it is nice and peaceful. Finally, ascend on top of the dune Keisarinpankki, where the nature is surprisingly lush and the view over the beach and sea impressive. We will browse around in the supermarket to spot the typical Finnish grocery products, take a peek into a huge flee market to search for possible treasures and go see what locals need to buy for their hobbies – hunting, fishing, snowmobiling. Maybe you’ll even find some souvenirs!
