Natural Wellbeing Break by Lake Saimaa

Moments of relaxation including local cupping therapy and a bath in the lake-side sauna and swimming in Lake Saimaa. Grilled sausages and local beer on the terrace of the sauna with a dinner with local specialities in Manor Restaurant. You can also bike to Mikkeli city center (not guided) through a beautiful scenery of Finnish nature. There are plenty of places to stop and for example have a picnic or go to swimming. This excursion will take you to one of the secluded lakes, to the roads less travelled, where you will experience Finnish nature on your own. When there is no traffic, no people, no electricity – you will feel the nature on all your five senses; nature looks brighter and more colorful, food by open-fire tastes different and better, you can hear waves at the shore, smell the nature without distractions and feel the clean and fresh air through your body. After 24h at Deserted Island you will be energized, refreshed and in peace after escaping to the middle of the wildlife.

From Guesthouse to Guesthouse Finnish Cuisine

Finnish cuisine is known for generally combining traditional country fare and haute cuisine with contemporary continental style cooking. Fish and meat play a prominent role in traditional Finnish dishes from the western part of the country, while the dishes from the eastern part, for example Karelia, have traditionally included various vegetables and mushrooms. During this tour you learn more about Finnish cuisine and also get to know the Finnish culture and locals. The delicious food is local and lot of the products are organic!

The Power of Flowers

Join us for an unforgettable wild-crafting adventure through the beautiful fields of Frantsila Organic Herb Farm, where you will learn the secrets of the healing herbs and flowers that surround us. This four hour, guided foraging tour will wind through our organic herb and flower fields, as well as through original farm buildings, which have been in the same family for over three hundred years. During the tour, you will have an opportunity to pick your own selection of herbs and and flowers, which you will then hand-craft into your very own, custom healing oil to take home.

Snow and Sand Yoga

Experience the soft touch of nature or the cold embrace of an extreme experience. Sand, snow and ice have dominated the local surroundings for centuries. Local lifestyle and livelihood have based on these elements, and at the hard times people have sought strength and peace from nature. This product combines easy yoga movements, winter and outdoors. When there’s no snow, the product changes into Sand Yoga that is based on same elements of tranquility, space and pure sea air. In front of the silence and infinity of the sea, you’ll become one with the nature.

Forest Yoga

When you're in the forest, it is easy to tune into the same tranquil wavelength with nature. With forest yoga, we will do some breathing exercises together with easy yoga asanas and stretching, making use of the trees around us. We finish with a relaxation exercise, listening to the sounds of nature.

Pancakes and Berry Picking in Pure Nature

Rovaniemi is an ideal place for berry and mushroom picking. Berry picking is a great way of enjoying the outdoors and unwinding in the midst of natural beauty. Wild berries are available almost all summer – blueberries and cloudberries ripen first, while lingonberries and cranberries arrive in late summer and autumn. We will start along the hiking path, but soon you can experience walking in moss-covered ground. The guide will tell you about the basics of the fresh food ingredients which you can collect from pure nature.

Wild Food Tour in Nature or Food Tour in the City

Our nature is full of food and healthy nutrition we can eat and learn from. Enjoy a guided tour where you learn to forage safely in the wild. We can pick blueberries, mushrooms, and herbs, among other things! Nutrition and wild food lessons are also available. You can also enjoy a food sightseeing tour in the city and sample some local delicacies. Hiking and wildlife safaris also available. Duration: 1–2 hours

Take a guided tour in the beautiful Nordic wilderness at the darkest time of the year. This immersion should help you to sharpen your senses and help you channel your sensations and emotions, while being in the outdoors late in the evening. Finland is known for clean waters, vast forests, and the midnight sun. This creates a unique growth environment for delicious and nutritious wild foods such as berries, wild mushrooms, herbs, wild vegetables, fish, and game. During our wild food excursions, you will get to know some Finnish superfoods, learn where to find them, and see how they taste. Our nature guide will take you on a walk where you gather wild food of the season and prepare a super picnic together.

Wellness from Lappish Nature

Trekking, wild herb & berry picking, fishing and the silence of clean Lappish nature! After meeting your guide and receiving all proper clothing for the nature trip, we drive to a forest near Rovaniemi. Our experienced guide leads you to the world of wild herbs, berries and mushrooms; depending of the season we'll pick wild herbs, cloudberries, blueberries, lingonberries or cranberries. After picking this Lappish superfood, it's time to relax and have a break by an open fire and prepare traditional pancakes. Before heading back to city, you can try your luck with the fish.

Many aspects of yoga are about being in the moment and at one with nature. Being outside can intensify the yoga experience in many ways, since nature inspires you to focus on awareness, breathing deeply and practicing stillness. This 3h program is a combination of a small hike in the beautiful Lappish nature near Rovaniemi and finding your balance while being outdoors. A breeze can deepen your breathing, the sun can deepen poses and a random bug can invite you to focus on something small. Feel the fresh air, smell the forest and listen to the sounds from the wilderness.

Lapland Winter Experience

We teach you to listen to the winds that blow – it can be an essential observation tool. You can touch the soil – feel the softness of the moss, the hardness of the rocks. Close your eyes and let go to pick up scents from different plants and the fresh snow. Breathe deeply, the fresh air is pure and healing. Our aim is to relax, to see and embrace the beauty of the nature around us. Experience food grilled on a camp fire at Vaattunki and a hike around the area, while a guide tells you about the local animals and plant life.

Relaxing Holiday at Metsäkartano

Relax at the Metsäkartano Resort in the Finnish Lakeland. This three day package includes skiing, snowshoeing, and kick sledding, partly guided and partly independent. Sensing and feeling the nature, good food and accommodation in one of our holiday apartments will guarantee a relaxing holiday.
