Finnish Lakeland for Birdwatchers

Rock and Lake offers great circumstances for birdwatchers to experience the birdlife of Finnish Lakeland. There are nine cottages situated in an area between a nature reserve and a FINIBA area. The cottage rent includes also a map with marked areas of interest, bird-watching tower, safe paths and forest roads to the watching places. We also rent boats, canoes and hides as well as arrange guided birdwatching trips. Guiding in English and Finnish.

Wild Route Rafting

The Wild route is suitable for daredevils and experienced white water rafters, although previous experience isn’t required. Before we head into the first rapid we’ll practice our rafting skills and safety instructions. The route includes the three biggest rapids on Kitka river, from class II to class IV. On this route adrenaline is pumping and you won’t stay dry! The Wild route is done the way we like to do it: no outboard engines, everybody paddles and small playful rafts to get the best out of it! After the rafting, we will walk along the Little Bear trail back to the basecamp.

Archipelago Experience in Helsinki

Helsinki has a magnificent seaside setting, although many visitors miss experiencing the beauty of its archipelago. Our package includes visits to 3 local islands: Vallisaari, which was just opened to the public in 2016, Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a wonderful dinner on a tiny island overlooking the city. In addition, guests can experience the new-for-2016 Allas Sea Pools & Sauna, with its spectacular location beside the sea.

Horseback Riding to the Peak of Pyhä

This horseback riding tour to the peak of Kultakero (Pyhä) starts from Lucky Ranch, located in the village of Pyhäjärvi. We will prepare the horses together and then move to our riding area for safety instructions. Then the journey may begin! At the top, we can enjoy the tremendous view and have a tasty lunch. You need to have some previous riding experience to attend, since the terrain is challenging. Age limit 12 years. You can borrow a riding helmet from us, but please wear good shoes with heels and clothes suitable for the day's weather.

Fishing and Snowmobiles

Ice fishing safari to a wilderness lake. Head north on a snowmobile trail that takes you along the frozen River Ounasjoki and through snowy forests up into the hills, where you can admire the beautiful surroundings of Lapland. Follow the trail through white, snow-covered fields to arrive at a small wilderness lake. The silence will envelop you as you prepare to go fishing. Try your hand at traditional ice fishing and fry your catch over the campfire. Afterwards, return to town for a well-earned rest.

Life as a Reindeer Herder

Experience the life of a Sámi reindeer herder. Your journey starts at herder's home, where you snuggle into the snowmobile's sledge and join the herder to feed his reindeer in the forest. You may help feed the reindeer or just enjoy their company. Take a seat among the reindeer and enjoy a fresh coffee, brewed on the open fire. The feeding station offers an excellent opportunity to both observe and photograph the reindeer in the nature. The program lasts 2–3 hours, depending on the reindeer's location. Reservations on the previous evening at the latest.

Wellbeing in Nature – Short Trip to the Lakeside

Helsinki StopOver – Explore Finnish Nature, Lakes and Forests

This tour is an excellent way to get to know Finnish nature and outdoor life especially if your time in Helsinki is limited. The tour takes you to a nature walk in the forest by a beautiful lake, only 20 minutes drive from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. During the tour the guide will tell you about Finnish nature nature and history. In the summertime you also have a possibility to swim in a lake and in the winter you can try snowshoeing or walking on an ice-lake. Lapland Express Snowcat

Come and experience an atmospheric Lapland Express Snowcat trip in the amazing fell scenery of Levi. The Snowcat's large windows allow you to admire the snowy mountain and starry skies, possibly even see the Northern Lights in the sky. Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park – Pallastunturi Visitor Centre

Welcome to the Pallastunturi Visitor Centre! The visitor centre is a natural starting point for day trips and other activities. It is located on the side of the Pallastunturi fells. In the winter, ski and snowshoe trails head in all directions from the yard. The From Forest to Fell Tops exhibition documents the changes in fauna and flora when moving from pine forests at the root of the fells to fell-side birch forests, and further on to the bare fell tops. Books, maps, and crafts for sale. Information about the national park's services and climate research is available. Free entry.

Vuoksi Maxi Tour by Bike

This 2-hour tour takes you all the way upstream to Lake Saimaa. You'll hear stories about the river Vuoksi and the Imatra rapids. You'll see the memorials for the English and Scottish racing drivers who died in Imatra as a result of a crash in the Finnish GP. You will learn about the dramatic days of war in the Imatra region and see the beautiful War Veterans' Memorial Park. You will pass the Millennium Babies' Appletree Park, the Orthodox church of St. Nicholas and the Neitsytniemi Mansion. The fishermen's base Mutterinranta and the Industrial Workers' Housing museum are on the route as well.

Husky Safari – Saariselkä

Enthusiastic barking welcomes you to the safari at our departure point. Before departing on your journey, you will be given instructions on how to control the sleds, which you will ride in pairs. Passengers may swap places at the halfway point. The head musher tells about the life and training of these Arctic animals, and you have a chance to take some great photos. The departure point may change according to weather conditions. Hot drinks will be served by a campfire.

Guided Seal Safari to the Outer Archipelago

Take a trip to the outer archipelago to see the grey seals living in the Baltic Sea. There are over 12 000 grey seals and with a bit of luck you can spot one! Seal safari on Thursdays and Sundays to the outer archipelago during the 3.7-14.8.2016 season and on Sundays during the 15-28.8.2016 season. Departure from the ST1 quay in the Eastern Harbour at 14. The duration of the cruise is approx. 2 hours. Price: Adults 35 euro, children (4-14 years) 15 euro.

Hiking in Western Lapland – Self-Guided 7 days / 6 nights

This 7-day self-guided hiking holiday takes place mainly in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, where you walk through boreal old-growth forests, rocky ravines, and cloudberry-rich marshes, along clear lakes and streams. Cosy Finnish Mölkky Evening

Mölkky is a Finnish game played with throwing pins. It is easy and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. During the Mölkky Evening you will learn to play the game with your local hosts. You are invited to their home to have a snack and beverages during the game evening. Most homes can host 1–4 guests, some up to ten. Bigger groups are divided to several locations. Mölkky is an outside game and can be replaced by indoors activity if the weather is poor. No special clothing is needed; comfort is key.

Adventure in B&B Kirjakkala Ironmills Village

In Teijo National Park you can experience Finnish nature on a mini-scale; lakes, forests, marshes, streams and the sea. The National Park is also a gateway to the archipelago. There's more than 50 km's of marked trails with cooking shelters along the way. You can trek, cross-country ski, fish, cycle, pick berries and mushrooms or go wild swimming. Kirjakkala Ironmills village was established in 1600's and tells you the story of Finnish industrialization. The environment has been preserved for more than 300 years. Old buildings are in new use as accommodation now.
