A Day in the Lappish Wilderness with Traditional Forest Skis in Ylläs

Come explore the Lappish wilderness by traditional way of skiing. Instead of regular cross-country skis used on maintained tracks, we will make our own path skiing across frozen lakes, into the deep snow in the forest, heading towards our kota – a traditional Lappish teepee – where we will enjoy a typical Finnish outdoor lunch by open fire, before skiing back. Forest skiing is an excellent way to discover the arctic nature, and it offers a perfect opportunity to learn about fauna and flora in the area, check animal tracks with your guide, and get to know our environment.

A Day in Wilderness with Ice-Fishing in Ylläs

When you expect your day trip to have a bit more snowmobiling as well as some 'serious' ice-fishing, this is an adventure for you. We will first drive to a wilderness lake where we will learn ice-fishing techniques. If we are lucky, we might get some perch and white fish. The guide will serve an outdoor lunch by the lake before we start heading back to our starting point in the village Ylläsjärvi.

A Full Day Snowmobile Safari into the Lappish Wilderness

If a snowmobiling excursion is the highlight of your holiday in Lapland, this activity is made for you! Your guide will lead you to less-used snowy tracks in the northern woods, tracks that lead you to stunning arctic landscape sights which cannot be reached during the shorter snowmobile safaris. Stop for a lunch break in the great outdoors while your guide prepares you a delicious Lappish lunch by the campfire. Depending on the snow conditions we might have a chance to try something which every snowmobile driver dreams of; driving on pure, untouched, powder snow!

A Full Day Snowmobile Safari to an Arctic Snow Hotel

The Arctic Snow Hotel is one of the must things to do when you visit Rovaniemi, Lapland. Enjoy a long snowmobile safari along snowy tracks, frozen rivers and lakes, forests covered with snow and tour around the Arctic Snow Hotel where we learn about the construction of this icy masterpiece. Delicious lunch of glow-fried salmon is served in a warm wooden Kota tepee. Motorboats are not allowed in Kolovesi, and this makes canoeing a pleasure in the silent and wilderness like surroundings. The guide will ensure a safe and informative visit to Kolovesi even for beginners. During the safari we will make a small break in Ukonvuori hill to explore the 5000 years old rock paintings. Spend an unforgettable night in a Finnish Taiga Forest watching wild bears. With luck, you can also spot a rare wolverine or a wolf pack. You'll spend the night in a comfortable wooden hide, where you can take pictures of the animals. You'll also enjoy the comfort of your own bed and a lavatory.

A Reindeer Safari to an Ice-Fishing Lake

This safari offers you an insight on how the real traditional life in Lapland used to be when you travel through the silent snow covered surroundings of Lapland in a traditional reindeer sleigh to a frozen wilderness lake. Our guide will teach you how to drill a hole in the ice and prepare the ice-fishing rod and baits. You just might to fish the catch of the day! A small Lappish campfire with sausages will highlight the day spent outdoors before returning to the reindeer farm by a reindeer sleigh.

A Snow Village Visit with Snowmobiles in Ylläs

This safari will take you to the magnificent Snow Village where you'll see some beautiful snow- and ice-sculptures. All rooms in the snow hotel are individually decorated with different themes and sculptures, lights and details. Something very extraordinary is the restaurant and the chapel built with snow and ice. After the visit, we enjoy a warm drink and a doughnut in the restaurant before driving through the snowy scenery back to Ylläsjärvi village.

A Snowshoe Adventure Excursion with Gondola Lift in Ylläs

Snowshoe walking is a fun way to explore the arctic nature of Lapland and get to pristine locations where there are no other people. First, we will take a ride with the gondola lift to top of the Ylläs Fell where we can see the beautiful scenery over the neighbouring fells and all the way to Sweden. After having a coffee in a mountain top café we will start walking down along the treeless side of the fell, accompanied by this amazing scenery, and finally through the snowy gulch and forest.
