Snowmobile Safari

Snowmobile safari to the forest of Koli and to the amazing frozen lake Pielinen. The safari's start from the harbor restaurant Alamaja. First we put warm driving equipment on (helmet, helmet hat, overall suit, driving boots) and then we will have short driving instructions from the guide. Afterwards we go and enjoy the motor power and Koli’s magnificent views!

Combined Canoeing and Hiking Trip to Beaver Territory

During this 2-day holiday, you overnight in Kullasmarina’s high-quality holiday villas. The excursion to beaver territory takes place in the Evo Hiking Area. You will take look into the life and habitat of Europe's largest rodent during this trip. You will paddle to the lower dam and continue by hiking up for a look at the beavers' feats and their nests. Upstream, you can see trees felled and eaten by the beavers. With any luck, the head of the beaver family will greet you by slapping its tail.

Berry Picking: Superfood Straight from the Pure, Unpolluted Forest

Starting from the end of July, our guide will take you to the forest and tell you about the delicious berries found in Finnish nature. To start, you'll get a container where you can collect the berries. While we search for berries, you can enjoy the calming, beautiful colours of nature and breathe in the purest air of Europe. We will have a break and enjoy a coffee with sweet buns by an open fire. Duration: 2 to 3 hours. Please note that we are not guaranteed to find berries!

Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall

The Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall was inaugurated on 4 June 1928. For decades, it was Finland’s only public swimming hall. Its ownership was transferred to the City of Helsinki in 1967. The hall is architecturally valuable, serving as an impressive example of the classism of its time. Over the decades, it has retained its original appearance, and after the renovations which began in 1997, the fantastically restored hall was re-opened in October 1999. There are separate swimming sessions for men and women, and bathers can choose to wear a swimming costume or not.

Ski Passes to Levi

The Levi ski resort is a good choice for beginners who wish to be immediately immersed in the extremes of winter in a beautiful northern setting. There are plenty of wide and easy pistes and slightly longer and steeper runs to move on to by the end of the week. More than half of Levi's pistes are graded intermediate and skiers enjoy whizzing around on the wide, open ski runs. The black-graded World Cup piste has a 52% final stretch, one of the steepest in Scandinavia.

Forests and Lakes Cycling Tour

A self-guided cycling tour through the Finnish countryside from Kajaani to Kuhmo, along peaceful, well-maintained roads. You will see plenty of shimmering lakes, which have refreshing swimming spots on hot summer days. However, the weather rarely is really hot, even July and August are very pleasant. Bear watching option available at the end of the tour.

ATV Safaris

Through the forests and hills and across slopes, our ATV routes are planned according to your experience and skills. Every participant drives their own ATV, and you will be equipped with all necessary equipment: helmet, outdoor clothing, gloves and rubber boots. You can choose an intensive 1-hour safari or a longer 2-hour safari, which includes a coffee break at the viewpoint hut.

Lake Päijänne Boat Cruise

Experience the steep rock shores and sandy lagoons on board our sleek cruising boat. Get acquainted with the history of the area and enjoy majestic landscapes of the Lake Päijänne National Park. Our licenced skipper will take you to the open waters of Lake Päijänne, surrounded by verdant islands and islets – this is the best way to enjoy a beautiful day! Number of participants: 1–8.

Candlelight Dinner for Two – the Finnish Way

A Romantic Arctic experience for couples. We welcome you with a hot drink and an introduction to our friendly Huskies in the kennel. We harness the teams together, and after a short briefing, it’s time to explore the Arctic blue darkness of the ancient spruce forest. Mushing a team of huskies in the magical atmosphere of blue darkness and soft white snow is an unforgettable experience. Husky sleds are one of the most ancient means of transport, and the quiet of the sleeping forest creates an intimate atmosphere.

Winter Safaris

Ylläshumina provides activities for hotel guests in small groups with max. 8 persons. Our guides will take you into the Lappish wilderness either on snowshoes, cross-country skis, snowmobiles or husky sleighs. You can join the small group or ask for a private tour.

Guided Mountain Biking Tour in Northernmost Lapland

Join us for a guided 4-day mountain biking tour! The terrain of Kaldoaivi wilderness area is versatile with hard ascents, easier highlands and the river valley of Teno. Part of the routes are challenging so very good physical condition and previous mountain biking experience is required.

Canoeing and Whitewater Rafting

Would you like to canoe calmly on peaceful waters or throw caution to the wind and take your kayak straight down the rapids? You can do them both with us. Whitewater kayaking on the Juutua river is a thrill unlike any other, but for travellers looking for a more sedate experience, we also organise unforgettable canoeing and kayaking trips on the Lutto river. We also rent canoes for camping trips.

Toivolansaari Camping by Lake Kyrösjärvi

Toivolansaari Camping (available in the summer) is located in a peaceful place, surrounded by Lake Kyrösjärvi, only 1km from Ikaalinen town centre. The camping site has 15 different sized and furnished cottages, loft houses as well as extensive grass fields for caravans and tents with electricity options. The camping site is equipped with sanitary facilities, a sauna and cooking facilities. There is also a cafeteria in the area. Ikaalinen Spa and its services are situated only about 9km from the camping site.

Snow and Ice Carving in the SnowCastle

This short but intensive program will familiarize the participants with the world of ice- and snow-carving in the spectacular SnowCastle area. An ice- and snow-carving professional will act as your teacher and tell you about the carving techniques and train you in using the equipment. During the program warm juice will be served.

Bear Watching in Martinselkonen

Would you like to see a mother bear nursing her cub in their natural habitat? The best place to experience this is the Martinselkonen Wilds Centre. Martinselkonen Wilds Centre has 20 years of experience in bear watching and photography tours. You can spend the night (or evening) in a comfortable wooden hide with an English speaking guide. You will have a chance to see several bears, also mother bears with small cubs. Come and spend an unforgettable night with the bears!
