Snowshoes for Rent

Snowshoeing isn't just walking. It's a great way to get around in the snowy forest without disturbing the wildlife. It can also be a great cardio workout and you can burn twice as many calories compared to walking! It's very easy – and lots of FUN! Kids' sizes available as well! The pick-up and return locations for the snowshoes can be arranged according to your needs.

An Evening Reindeer Safari in the Arctic Night

This is a night to remember! Travel by car to the start of the adventure at a local reindeer farm. Sitting comfortably in a reindeer sleigh, travel through snowy forests while we go Aurora hunting, and who knows with a bit of luck the northern lights will paint the skies in shades of green above you. A hot cup of coffee with a bun is served around a campfire.

Santalahti Beach

The soft and sandy cove at Santalahti is suitably sheltered by the archipelago, and opens south towards the open sea. This is the perfect location for children to show off their sand castle skills, whilst sun worshippers can choose from either the soft sand or the cooler coastal grass. The beach also has beach volleyball courts, toilets, changing cubicles, barbecue and picnic spots, plus a ramp that allows access to the waterline by wheelchair or pram. A nature track, the Santa Café and a minigolf park are in close proximity.

Ski and Snowshoe Rental

The undisturbed nature in the island's southern and western parts is perfect for snowshoeing adventures. If you prefer cross-country skiing, the tracks start right next to the reception and Santa Café.

A Day in Wilderness with Ice-Fishing in Ylläs

When you expect your day trip to have a bit more snowmobiling as well as some 'serious' ice-fishing, this is an adventure for you. We will first drive to a wilderness lake where we will learn ice-fishing techniques. If we are lucky, we might get some perch and white fish. The guide will serve an outdoor lunch by the lake before we start heading back to our starting point in the village Ylläsjärvi.

Midnight Sun Safari at Wilderness Lake

We will go by car towards the Pallas fell and reach nature's peace at the Kivijärvi wilderness lake. This trip is suitable for the whole family. During the evening, you can try fishing from a boat and from the shore. We will also check some fish traps – they might hold perch, pike or trout. You can also hike and pick berries. We will also take canoes and SUP boards with us, all are at your disposal. And no trip is complete without campfire sausages and coffee. You can also bring your own beverages. Duration: 4 to 5 hours.

Canoe and Kayak Rental

Enjoy and explore beautiful Finnish lakes, forests, and swamps at the Liesjärvi and Torronsuo national parks. The best way to do this is to rent your own canoe and explore the beautiful surroundings from the water. The prices include a canoe or kayak, canoe vests, paddles, a map, and optional transportation from and to Kopinlahti in Liesjärvi. If you like to start or end elsewhere, we also offer a transportation service. Note that the canoe vests are only very light life jackets, so we require you to have basic swimming skills.

A Full Day Snowmobile Safari into the Lappish Wilderness

If a snowmobiling excursion is the highlight of your holiday in Lapland, this activity is made for you! Your guide will lead you to less-used snowy tracks in the northern woods, tracks that lead you to stunning arctic landscape sights which cannot be reached during the shorter snowmobile safaris. Stop for a lunch break in the great outdoors while your guide prepares you a delicious Lappish lunch by the campfire. Depending on the snow conditions we might have a chance to try something which every snowmobile driver dreams of; driving on pure, untouched, powder snow!

Boat Rental

Käringsund Resort rents boats for 3 hours, whole days or weeks. You can choose if you whether you want a motor. We also sell fishing permits for two different areas. Additionally, we can arrange fishing tours with a guide in our Pro Line boat. We also offer pedal boats for 4 persons and canoes for 1 – 3 persons. Life jackets are naturally included. Transportation is handled with car, snowmobile or boat – depending on the season. All our safaris are tailored exactly for your needs.

Bothnian Sea National Park

By the shores of the Bothnian Sea you can enjoy bracing sea winds and fine views out over the wild waves. History comes alive on the park's remote lighthouse islands. Divers can here explore Finland's most pristine marine waters. Twice a year migrating birds offer a great show for bird watchers.

From us you can rent, from a child to an adult, any of our full range of skiing, snowboard and cross country ski equipment, sledges and snowshoes.

Night Snowmobile Safari

Leave the city lights behind you and join an unforgettable snowmobile adventure to the dark wilderness. We will drive along frozen rivers and through forests covered with snow, letting the glittering moon and stars guide us through our journey. The tour is suitable for everyone, also for families with children – no previous experience is necessary.

Canoe Rental

We rent fully equipped canoes and kayaks for use in rivers and lakes. Models available: Old Town and Wenonah. The price includes helmets, lifejackets and paddles, and you will also get a robe and bailer. We also arrange transportations to wilderness rivers, such as Ivalojoki.

Hot Air Balloon Flight in Helsinki

Enjoy breathtaking views and the beauty of Finnish nature from an unique perspective. You can book a place on a hot air balloon and come to see the surroundings of Helsinki from the sky. Or you can have a private flight specially for your group, a romantic flight for two or beautiful views for a group of 4-7 people.

Husky Hiking

Experience the Arctic wilderness with a loyal companion, a Husky dog. You will be picked up from Kakslauttanen for the Husky farm just at the resort area. You will meet these friendly and noble Northern dogs and then one of them will be selected to be your partner for the adventure. Together you will experience the amazing views and Arctic nature of the Kiilopää fell area, right on the border of Urho Kekkonen National Park, the largest national park in Finland. The climb is moderate. You will learn about Arctic wildlife and plants along the way.

Ruunaa Rapids Husky Safari

During this safari you will practice driving the dogs, learn how to control the sled and go through safety briefing before heading out on a husky safari to the Ruunaa Rapids – each participant with their own sled. We stop at a lean-to by the rapids to enjoy the spectacular scenery and a wilderness lunch.

Icebreaker Sampo

An icebreaker cruise from the town of Kemi is one of Finland's most popular travel attractions, and this nautical experience is within easy reach of Kakslauttanen. Over the course of the day-long trip, guests also have the opportunity to take a dip in the icy sea – in a dry suit, of course. The period for icebreaker cruises extends from mid-December until the end of April, depending on the weather.
