Self-Drive Fishing Trip

Kuhmo city is situated in the Wild Taiga area, so from here you’ll find a lot of lakes, rapids and forests. Kuhmo is known as “the City of a Hundred Rapids”. The Pajakkakoski rapids are situated only 800 meters from Hotel Kainuu, and there is a stone pier built for tar boats along the whole length of the northern bank, which makes it easy to go fishing on foot. The price includes accommodation in double rooms with breakfast for three nights, coffee with a local guide on the first day, fishing permits for rapids of Pajakkakoski, and a sauna each evening.

The remote tracks take us around snowy landscapes of Lapland: up the hills, cross the rivers, along the lakes and swamps. During the day we will enjoy a lunch in the forest accompanied by a hot drink.

Catch the Northern Lights – in a Glass Igloo

Staying overnight in a glass igloo feels like sleeping out in the open, only it's just as warm and cosy as a hotel. The igloo village is set in an opening surrounded by pine trees, sufficiently far away from the city lights, making it ideal for watching the Northern Lights and enjoying starry skies. Have a good night’s sleep as the Aurora Alarm searches the skies for you: once it has woken you, all you need to do is open your eyes, look at the night sky and enjoy the sight from the comfort of your bed. The igloos can fit 2–5 persons. Open: Dec 1 – Mar 31
