Wilderness Winter Skills for Women

Are you planning a trip or expedition to remote Arctic areas in the winter? Hikes 'n Trails wilderness winter skills for women is an all-inclusive one-week course on the Russian border. The course includes all you need to know when planning an Arctic skiing tour with a sled or if you just want to challenge yourself with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will stay in a nice and tidy room at a former Border Control station in a small village just beside the Russian border.

Kevo Strict Nature Reserve

At Kevo Strict Nature Reserve, you can experience Lapland's landscape at its most wondrous. The Nature Reserve has been established to protect the Kevo Canyon and the sensitive fell landscape that surrounds it. The canyon-like valley of River Kevojoki is 40 km long and at places 80 metres deep. The rest of the Nature Reserve is fell highland marked with gentle ravines. Discovering Porvoo and its Surroundings by Bike (2–3 Hours)

We will meet at the tourism information desk under Mannerheim’s avenue bridge where we will rent bicycles and helmets (included in our price). Then we will visit the old city of Porvoo and learn about Finnish history and culture. Afterwards we head towards to a small island situated 2 km south of Porvoo. There we will stop and walk into the forest to reach a birdwatching tower. There we can see a natural reserve with protected birds and a beautiful view of Porvoo. We will continue our promenade via Porvoo's skiing resort Kokonniemi before reaching Hammars.

Glimpse of the Arctic - Huskies in Nuuksio National Park

Meet the huskies of Nuuksio National Park in peaceful nature surroundings. Take turns in dog sled riding on a short but a safe track pulled by our people-loving Siberian huskies. While you ride, your friends can enjoy watching your experience. Depending on track and weather, you can also drive yourself. Enter 'Kota', the traditional Sami tent and hear the stories of the Arctic reliving the experience by an open fire. A hot drink is included. We'll use dog sleds or dog carts.

Nordic Walking between the Serlachius Museums

We take a nordic walk from one Serlachius Museum to another one to discover a top quality cultural destination. The route leads us through the beautiful forest and lake landscapes. The destination is either the internationally awarded Serlachius Museum Gustaf where we learn stories of history or Art Museum Gösta that has been internationally awarded for its wood architecture. Serlachius Museum Gösta was nominated the Museum of the Year 2015 in Finland.

From Finland to Sweden with Snowmobiles

This safari takes you over the marshes, hills and frozen lakes in our snowy forests. We also cross the Tornionjoki river and arrive in Sweden without any official customs formalities… We will overnight at Lappean Loma in the Lappea Village, which is a very original Lappish village next to Tornionjoki. This safari requires moderate riding skills. Because of the long distance, this safari is always done with one person per snowmobile.

Snowmobile Sleigh Ride, Archipelago Sightseeing and Fishing Tour

Experience the frozen Gulf of Finland, an amazing winter wonderland, from a snowmobile sleigh. This snowmobile sleigh tour covers a beautiful route around the coastline on the frozen sea. You make a lot of stops for interesting features and the guide will tell you about life in the archipelago. You can try fishing with nets under the ice as well as traditional ice fishing during the tour. We take a break on one of the many islands, and you can relax and enjoy lunch with hot drinks by the campfire. Pick-up and drop-off included.

Kayaking and Hiking Package in Teijo National Park

Explore National Park on a guided canoe trip (4 h) in Hamari lake. You will learn the basics of kayaking and make a peaceful trip (around 8 km) in the beautiful and calm lake landscapes. Relax afterwards in a traditional Finnish sauna and refresh in the cooling water of the lake. On the second day you can take a hike in the forest (3 km) from Kirjakkala. Have a coffee or lunch break in Teijo and do shopping in the handicraft centre in Teijo blast furnace. On the third day you can visit in the ironworks Mathildedal or Meri-Teijo Golf.

Archipelago Cruise to Gustavsvärn and The Pike's Gut

Gustavsvärn is the best kept part of a four-part larger whole of fortresses outside Hanko. The little islet contains the ruins of a fortress built by the Swedes in the late 18th century, as well as a lighthouse from 1951. Tha Pike´s gut is a narrow strait between two islands outside Tulliniemi. There are over 640 kept rock carvings on the islands. the earliest ones are from the 16th century.

Salamajärvi National Park

Follow in the hoofprints of wild reindeer on the Peuran Polku Trail. You might even spot some of these rare animals. The park's varied wild scenery includes rockstrewn pinewoods, open bogs and lakes full of tasty fish. Use the facilities at Koirasalmi as a base for exploring the wilds.

Try the life of a musher for yourself! You will learn to ride your sled, have your own husky team and work together with these great friends. We start on easy terrain across the lake and continue to the forest. On the way, you can enjoy the winter wilderness. The ride is about 25 km long, depending on the weather and your skills. Total duration: 3 to 4 hours

Finnish Forest Experience with Ponies and Berries

This guided tour will take you in to the forest. During this guided tour you will meet a local horse stable owner and get familiar with stables' animals (dogs, horses and cats). There is also a possibility for horseback riding. Depending on the season you will find blueberries and lingonberries.

River Rafting Family Route

Family friendly river excursion with 7 easy-going rapids. River rafting family route Käylä-Juume. You meet your guide in our summer office Juuma village, where you get all the equipment needed. Your guide will give you safety instructions before heading off to the river. The route follows river Kitka from Käylä back to Juuma where we started from. On this 14 km route you will experience 7 rapids and beautiful surroundings.
