Winter and Snowshoe Hikes in Nuuksio National Park

On our winter hiking tour you can experience magical Finnish winter nature in Nuuksio National Parks close to Helsinki. The winter safari takes you to the snow covered forests and also safely to ice covered lakes. Program includes return transportation from Helsinki City Center and a snack break.

Ahola Museum

Visit the birthplace of Lake Tuusula's artist community. The author Juhani Aho and painter Venny Soldan-Brofeldt moved to the villa in 1897 and laid the foundation for a community of artists on the shores of Lake Tuusula. The couple's long-term residence exhibits their lifework. Aho, who is considered Finland's national author, was also a vigorous outdoorsman. Soldan-Brofeldt was a visual artist, who was also influential amongst art educators and the feminist movement.

Helsinki City Marathon

Helsinki City Marathon is the biggest marathon in Finland with over 3500 runners from 63 countries (2016). The marathon is organized in August every year, for the 37th time in 2017. Finland is one of the few countries where you can run a marathon during the summer months. Our climate is perfect for it – the average temperature is around 18–20 degrees Celcius. The marathon route is scenic yet urban, reaching the very heart of the city. HCM receives excellent feedback from runners every year. Come and enjoy the clean air and blue skies of Finland!

Visit to the Nuuksio Reindeer Park

Experience a touch of Northern magic at the Nuuksio reindeer park, which is Finland’s southernmost place where you can see reindeer. The park is located 35 km from the city center/the airport. You can feed the reindeer and take pictures. A coffee with bun is served by the fire in an atmospheric Lappish kota (tepee). Souvenirs can be purchased on site.

Järvenpää Art Museum

Experience the golden age of Finnish art at its birthplace. At the Järvenpää Art Museum, you can see the works of two significant Finnish painters, Eero Järnefelt and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt. Both belonged to the community of artists which lived in the Lake Tuusula region at the turn of the 20th century. Many of the works of Eero Järnefelt and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt were painted in the immediate vicinity of the present-day museum. The museum also hosts exhibits by contemporary artists and a museum shop. The museum is easily accessible and is a short walk from the Järvenpää railway station.

Aulanko Nature Reserve

Aulanko has been a popular destination with visitors for more than a hundred years. The English-style park, which forms a part of the nature reserve, was constructed in 1883 – 1938, and its buildings and cultural history make it a nationally valuable site. Nowadays, there is a lot to see at the Aulanko Nature Reserve in addition to the beautiful scenery. The forest park of Aulanko, its sights, and the view from the scenic lookout tower of Aulangonvuori Hill over the national landscape attract more than 400 000 visitors every year. The area is best suited for day trips.
