Cooking on Open Fire

Cooking on the open fire is always a nice experience. Together we will prepare a 3-course Lappish dinner with local ingredients. You have a chance to hear memorable stories while the food is cooking. Once everything is ready, we will enjoy a tasty dinner and take in the incomparable atmosphere.

Gold Panning

Gold mining has been practiced in the area surrounding Kakslauttanen for centuries. The first gold rush took place in the 1870's – i.e. before Alaska. There is so much of this precious metal in the ground that many have been overcome with gold-rush fever and ended up staying in Lapland for the rest of their lives. Our guests get to try their luck at the gold-panning site.

Treetop Adventure at Zippy

Zippy is one of the largest treetop adventure parks in Finland. Zip lines, ladders, trapezes, swings and other challenges in the middle of a beautiful forest will make your adventure experience truly memorable. The courses have different difficulty levels to ensure you get an appropriate amount of excitement and adrenaline. We also have a Kids' Land for toddlers and children. Easy to reach by public transportation or by car, Zippy is located only 6 km from the Helsinki Central railway station.

Ice Fishing – Traditional Finnish Experience

Want to enjoy the Finnish wintertime? Put some skates on, glide to our island, and enjoy the beautiful landscape as you sit by a hole in the ice and wait for the fish to come. Our guide will explain how you'll get the biggest fish of all times. Our Winter Café will also provide you with a hot chocolate to keep you warm. Total duration circa 4 hours.

Flowpark

Flowpark is an ecological adventure park, where you can put your wits and fitness to the test. Our adventure courses have been built with live trees, doing no harm to the flora. You can negotiate various obstacles in the treetops, at heights of up to 20 metres. The tasks are high-rope courses that feature swinging bridges, zip wires, swings, and lianas. Flowpark is designed for everyone older than six who have an adventurous streak, and it is guaranteed to offer fun challenges to newbies and old hands alike!

NUTS Pallas

This trail race runs through Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park in northwestern Finnish Lapland, under the midnight sun and through the cleanest air in Europe. You can join the NUTS Pallas Trail Run with distances of 30, 55, and 134 km. The race runs along one of the most popular hiking routes in Finland.

Kainuu Orienteering Week (Open Orienteering)

KOW's open orienteering is one of the most popular and diverse open orienteering possibilities in Finland! NEW at KOW – C-Ultra – perfect choice for trail runners. You can register on-site at event arenas or pre-register online. KOW's open orienteering includes 8 different skill levels from kids to professionals. The youngest orienteerers can also try our adventure route. All maps are prepared by mapping professionals and the results service is as good as in the competition categories. Come and enjoy orienteering!

Helsinki City Run Half Marathon

Helsinki City Run is the biggest running event in Finland with over 12 000 participants (2016). Helsinki City Run (HCR) takes place mid-May every year. The route combines city, sea-view, forests and parks and is an excellent way to see Helsinki and its most beautiful parts. There are 10 start groups, so you can join runners going your preferred pace. HCR hosts the best services for runners in Finland. We invite you and your friends for a great and active time in Helsinki!

Treetop Adventure at Flowpark Ahvenisto

Flowpark Ahvenisto in Hämeenlinna is an ecological adventure park built in the treetops. There are more than 200 meters of zip lines, some of which are built between two ridges. Our visitors can push themselves to the limit and test their courage in a safe environment. We promise a true adventure with fantastic lake sceneries and diverse Finnish nature. The adventure park is suitable for people of all ages and the adventure tracks have different degrees of difficulty to challenge everyone!

Escape Room

The Krapi Barn hosts an art gallery maintained by a mysterious art supporter. You and your friends have 60 minutes to discover the most closely-guarded secrets of the Lake Tuusula area. The game is suitable for anyone who wants to play and solve puzzles together. 2 to 6 people can play at the same time. Duration of the game: 1 hour 15 minutes, including 15 min start & 1 hour play time The yard is also home to Hotel Krapi, Restaurant Krapihovi, summer restaurant Mankeli, our large Beer Garden, and a smoke sauna by the lake – tailor your stay and make it truly memorable!

Trip to the Lappish Goldfields

Transport by car to an original Lappish goldfield located near Saariselkä. We will meet original gold diggers and learn about today's gold digging and panning methods. After learning the ways to find gold, we get the chance to try the hard work by ourselves. Shovels and pails are waiting for us at the ditch and off we go! After a while of hard work, the real gold digger helps us to find the gold and jewelry stones by panning. During the trip we'll have coffee and pancakes.

Helsinki City Marathon

Helsinki City Marathon is the biggest marathon in Finland with over 3500 runners from 63 countries (2016). The marathon is organized in August every year, for the 37th time in 2017. Finland is one of the few countries where you can run a marathon during the summer months. Our climate is perfect for it – the average temperature is around 18–20 degrees Celcius. The marathon route is scenic yet urban, reaching the very heart of the city. HCM receives excellent feedback from runners every year. Come and enjoy the clean air and blue skies of Finland!

Adventure Park Ticket

Laajis has one of the biggest adventure parks in the nordic countries. The area has more than 1km of climbing courses in the forest and +1km climbing on the poles in the open ground with long zip lines and challenging elements. Be sure to check out our superb bikepark and frisbeegolf opportunities also.

Nature Trails and Outdoor Activities

Our nature trails, which wind their ways through quiet forests and past crystal clear lakes, attract hikers and walkers throughout the year. In autumn you can pick mushrooms and berries in the forest, and in spring witness nature coming back to life in all its colourful glory. At Vierumäki, magnificent ridges and coniferous woods provide a varied setting for many types of sports and activities, such as riding, dogsledding safaris, forest yoga and mountain biking.

Experience Lapland on a Private Jet, Helicopter or Husky Safari

Would you like to go on a husky sledge ride, a reindeer safari or a snowmobile tour? We can take care of your travel arrangements to Lapland and even arrange an encounter with the indigenous Samí people. You can go heli-skiing or use a snowmobile to reach the best locations for skiing during your time in Finland. Sleep outside or in a warm glass igloo and watch the stars and Northern Lights – or enjoy the comfort of your private chalet. We can organize any and all activities!

One-Day Wilderness Course

If you want to experience the true nature of the archipelago, the best way is to explore the uninhabited areas in the Archipelago National Park, sleeping under the stars or in a tent. However, you need to be prepared. A camping stove gets you a warm meal without the luxury of a kitchen or electricity. The basics of first aid will come in handy, should you or your hiking partner get hurt during your journey. Finding your way, with or without a compass, is also a valuable skill. Our wilderness guide will teach you these and other useful skills, so you can strike out on your own adventure.

Ice Climbing at Ruka Ski Resort

The ice-climbing program is suitable for adults and children who like to challenge themselves and are not afraid to try new adventures in a safe winter environment. The program is moderately demanding, but suitable for beginners. You do need to be in decent physical condition – i.e. strong enough to use the axe on ice. Ice climbing in Arctic conditions can be a very powerful experience. We will help you feel confident as you explore the ice wall, and you will come out of the experience feeling mentally stronger. Horse Sleigh Ride in the Snowy Forest

This romantic ride takes you through a snowy forest to the beautiful frozen Lake Pyhäjärvi. Enjoy the winter magic, find peace of mind, and relax. You will also be served a cup of hot chocolate. The sleigh is pulled by an original Finn horse and it fits a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. 1-hour private tour.

Magical Day of Ice with Icebreaker Sampo, SnowCastle and More

The formidable Sampo, an icebreaker formerly deployed by the Finnish government, now in use for a unique cruise experience on the Bothnian Gulf. Experience the open Arctic waters, where steel and ice meet the sea. The drive out to Kemi from your hotel will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours, and you’ll board the Sampo at the Kemi Ajos Harbour. You will be guided as the ship cruises down onto the Bothnian Gulf and you will have a chance to float in the water using a floatation rescue suit. A lunch of salmon- or reindeer soup is also included.

Espoo Recreational Islands

The recreational islands in Espoo offer a perfect setting for relaxation and recreation. A scheduled boat service takes you swiftly to and from the islands in the archipelago. In just one day you have time to visit a couple of these attractive little islands. Enjoy a nice picnic with your friend on one of the islands or spend a night camping under the summer sky. In total there are 11 recreational islands in Espoo and four of them are accessible through scheduled boat service which is running from June until end of August. The biggest and most popular island is called Iso Vasikkasaari.
