Meet the Forest

My number one favourite thing to do is simply walking in the forest. Forests have such a peaceful and calm atmosphere that it is impossible to come out from a forest with a frown – a smile is always guaranteed! A forest is a good listener when you are sad or stressed and will also dance with you when you are so happy that you just can't hide it. Spend a little time in the fresh air, watch the blue sky and feel the presence of the peaceful old trees around you, maybe even see some wild animal – this is the forest.

Winter Fishing at Lake Jerisjärvi

”Juomustus” is an ancient form of winter fishing. At first you are told how the nets can be inserted under the ice and what tools are required. After that we go to the fishing nets excited to see the possible amount of catch. We check the nets together and the prey instinct of even first-time visitors is bound to awaken when the net's cork-line vibrates in their hands and soon the silvery whitefish glints in the hole. Then it’s time to cook and taste the fresh fish in the kota.

Santamus evening

This is the most famous and mysterious restaurant in Lapland. The restaurant is famous not only because of its unique location at the Santa Claus Village on Arctic Circle, but also due its one of a kind design. You will walk into a fairy tale, where you will see a raging river with splashing trout and a spruce forest along the shores. Footbridges, wooden walls, and fireplaces create a unique atmosphere, and many other surprises await you! During the evening, you will hear traditional Finnish musical instruments and also a very non-traditional musical instrument – the saw!
