This exhibition at the Museum of Kymenlaakso tells about the Great Coastal Road and its builders and travellers. Today the road is a part of the European Road E18. People have been making their way on this road since the Middle Ages. The modest riding trail was made wider as it was used by armies, state officials, and common people alike. In the 20th century, cars replaced horses and new times favoured straight roads. Eventually, the road was transformed into a modern motorway. The venue also houses a colourful play area for children and small exhibitions with local themes.
