Finland launches national fishing travel website
The national fishing travel site of Finland, www.fishinginfinland.fi, is now online with three language editions: Finnish, English and Russian. The website is compiled by the Federation of Finnish Fisheries Association with help from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as well as the Finnish Tourist Board.
The website presents Finland as a great destination for anglers and other holiday makers with an interest in fishing. Different regions, fishing waters and types of fish are introduced in articles, pictures and videos. Information on fishing permits and Finnish fishing culture is also provided. Services are laid out on a map of Finland and even recipes on how to cook fresh fish from Finnish waters are available.
The Finnish fishing travel industry has developed rapidly since 2000, and the importance of international customers is high for entrepreneurs who mainly provide accommodation and fishing guide services.
For example, Old School Trolling is a small company operating in the northern part of Lake Saimaa in the Lakeland region. According to the owner of the company, Mr. Jari Käyhkö, good location and diverse fishing waters are the most important things for international customers. In July 2013, Old School Trolling opens a new cottage accommodation site with all necessary services for anglers. With the addition, the company can offer a full package for a variety of guests in the future.
The Finnish fishing travel site will expand with a German edition and by 2014 there will be online 10 languages total.
