Reindeers in Nuuksio near Helsinki – really?
Yes, that is true! Reindeers have come a long 1300 km way from the northern Finland to the southern Finland. They have own private place in the fenced forest area in the Nuuksio National Park where also our cozy Lappish Tepee restaurant “White Reindeer” is located. The reindeer area is only 1,1 km from the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia and 35 km/30 min. from the centre of Helsinki and from the airport. 3,5 years old reindeer Oscar is the leader of the herd and he is in training to pull a sleigh. In addition there is another reindeer bull called Niila (1,5 yrs) and three half year old female calves: Taika, Nella and Lumi. The reindeers are fed twice a day and they are already well adapted to their new home and they are very curious and interested in people if they see them nearby.
Our guided reindeer tour can include photographing, feeding the reindeers and try on “suopunki” lasso throwing. Also sleigh rides, Santa Clause visit etc. can be included according to orders. In our cozy White Reindeer tepee restaurant you can enjoy either small savoury or sweet snack with black pot campfire coffee or tea or you can order a tasty three course dinner with wine. Delicious fish and game meals are prepared with fresh, locally produced raw materials. Dinner by an open fire in an exotic and cozy environment with reindeers is certainly an unforgettable experience.
Experience a touch of the northern magic in Espoo and come and visit us in the national park of Nuuksio. Note! Only for pre-booked groups of 8-30 persons.
