Juminkeko Visitor Centre in Kuhmo

Juminkeko, the Nest of Kalevala,  is an information centre specialized in the Finnish national epos. The building is a prime example of modern Finnish wood architecture. The objectives of the centre are preservation of Kalevala traditions and culture, cultural exchange between Finland and   the Republic of Karelia, Russia and international cultural exchange based on the Kalevala.

These goals are supported by the numerous exhibitions and events which the center organizes in Finland and Karelia. Visiting authors, exhibitions, as well as musical and folklore tours – examples of Juminkeko at its best.

The centre is open Mon-Fri, in July daily.
