Outdoor Winter Swimming
Finland has some 120,000 ice-hole swimmers and its popularity is still growing. For the first timer, ice hole swimming is a surprisingly pleasant and memorable experience.
For ice hole swimming you need a frozen patch of a lake or the sea with a sufficiently large aperture cut into it, and it’s an advantage to have access to a warm dressing room and sauna. You change into your swimming suit, take a deep breath and either take a quick plunge or swim for a few minutes at a time, then return to the warmth of the sauna.
