Three Cities in the South (370 km) Helsinki is the largest of the three cities, but still a bustling city with human dimensions. Tampere is characterised by the lakes that reach all the way into the city centre and the industrial heritage, which is a fundamental part of the Tampere identity and character. Turku, the oldest city in Finland, is known for its rich history; the medieval castle and the cathedral are the city’s most famous landmarks.
