Downhill Skiing

Skiing in Finland is bliss. Spectacular views, the peace of nature and the clear spring light are unique experiences. This is why the area has become a top destination for lovers of downhill skiing.

Winter in Finland, Downhill Skiing in Levi

Ski at leisure on the long, gentle slopes, or get your thrills on the steeper inclines. In Lapland and northern Finland there are 22 ski resorts, in central Finland 31 and in southern Finland, 26. The wild environment, the well-lit evening runs and the lively after ski entertainment are a special combination.

In Lapland the longest slope of 3000 metres is at Ylläs. In central Finland, the average length of the slopes is 600-800 metres, with the longest slope at Koli in northern Karelia at 1050 metres. The slopes are kept in excellent condition throughout the season. In Lapland and northern Finland, the season begins in early November and lasts until May, while in central Finland it begins at the end of November and lasts until April. In the south, skiing begins in December and lasts into early April.

Finland has excellent opportunities for beginners, but we have also great resorts for more experienced skiers. There is daily ski instruction available at all the main ski centres. Skis, poles, boots and helmets can be hired. Some resorts even have ski suits for hire.
