Fortezza marina di Suomenlinna, Helsinki

Potrete visitare il maestoso centro in stile impero della capitale, Helsinki, concepito a metà del 19mo secolo dall’architetto C.L. Engel e restare poi meravigliati di fronte alla fortezza sull’isola di Suomenlinna, bersaglio di un bombardamento anglo-francese durante la Guerra di Crimea, per fare infine un salto indietro nel tempo davanti ai magnifici Castelli di Turku, Hämeenlinna e Olavinlinna. Oppure concedetevi una passeggiata nelle vecchie cittadine in legno perfettamente conservate di Porvoo e Rauma.

Tesori culturali attendono il visitatore anche ad Ainola, casa dove visse il compositore Jean Sibelius, e a Hvitträsk dove si trova l’ex studio e abitazione in stile Romantico Nazionale degli architetti Saarinen, Lindgren e Geselius. Entrambe le località si trovano in una scenografica posizione sul lago e sono facilmente raggiungibili da Helsinki. Ma questi sono solo alcuni degli esempi di un ricco patrimonio nazionale che abbraccia anche le culture regionali della Carelia ad est e dei Sami o Lapponi a nord.
