The Ylläs area consists of seven fells and two original Lappish villages. At 718 m, Ylläs fell itself is one of the highest fells in Finnish Lapland.

Äkäslompolo village is located on the north side of the fell and Ylläsjärvi village on the south side. A memorable experience for many visitors to the Pallas-Ylläs national park is the climb from the east end of Lake Kesänkijärvi along the Pirunkuru ravine to top of the 517 metre Kesänkitunturi Fell. With 61 slopes and 330 km of ski-trails, Ylläs has become one of the biggest winter holiday resorts in Finland, without losing any of its Lapp charm. Cross-country skiers return to Ylläs year after year for obvious reasons: Ylläs boasts a larger network of trails than any other Finnish resort. A total of 330 km of meticulously maintained trails are available, and 38 km of these trails are illuminated. Did you know…? Ylläs is also home to the longest downhill runs in Finland. It's also one of the most popular destinations among telemark skiers and off-piste skiers who love the wealth of untouched snow.
