If you prefer using mobile internet we recommend you to use our mobile portal http://mobile.visitfinland.com which is tailored for mobile browsers. Or you could use our SMS/MMS based services, which allow reliable service with almost any mobile phone. Of course you can always browse the full portal at http://www.visitfinland.com with your mobile device, if you have browser capability to display online portals. VisitFinland.com provides these services for free, but please be aware that your mobile network operator might charge for online traffic or mobile messages.

Most of our SMS services can be used without registration, but you need to register in order to send SMS/MMS Blog messages and to rate features.
You have the option of providing your mobile phone number in international format when registering your personal profile. If you do so, you will receive an SMS with a verification code. To verify your number please add the verification code to your profile page. Now you can use the SMS/MMS blogging and rating services.
Generally speaking, it is always a good idea to register your mobile number!

You do not need to go online with your mobile phone to access information and services – some of them can be quickly accessed by means of SMS. You can easily access the following information and services with SMS commands (see table below).

If you wish to send a longer text as a FinBlog, or if you wish to add photos, you can use MMS. Please note that audio and video content is not currently published on the portal.
Instructions: 
Compose an MMS on your mobile device and continue to the send menu. Some mobiles may now ask you to "Enter phone number" or "Enter email address" (If prompted select "Enter email address"). Enter the email address for our service "mmsblog@visitfinland.com" and send the message.

 

SMS Instructions 

When using SMS services, you only need to send a simply structured text message to +358 50 90 20 200.

In principle every message should be composed using a keyword to specify the service you want to use and the optional service specific data. The next table will provide an overview of the available keywords and options. You do not need to type the complete keyword because it is sufficient to use a short form (e.g. "HEL" for "HELP") in emboldened text. For some keywords, an even shorter abbreviation is available (e.g. "!" for "BLOG").

 

Keyword	Description
HELP or ?	Get general help on SMS Services. Send HELP + a command, such as "HELP IAM" for type of help required. Available commands are: HELP/? IAM WEATHER BLOG/! STOP/CANCEL LBS NEXT ROUTE PASSWORD PORTAL RATE SUBSCRIBE
BLOG or simply an exclamation mark: !	Send a FinBlog to the portal.   To send a new blog message please give the keyword and the text. Example: "BLOG This is a new blog entry..." or "! This is a new blog entry..."   MMS can be used in the same way, but you do not need to write BLOG at the beginning. Don't forget that MMS should go to mmsblog@visitfinland.com.
IM or IAM	Specify your current location Send your current location e.g. "IAM Helsinki" or more specific "IAM Kluuvikatu 2, Helsinki".
LBS	Set the option to be positioned automatically. Send "LBS" to receive the current status of location based services, "LBS ON"/"LBS OFF" to enable/disable location based services. On sending "LBS ON" you agree to the positioning of you mobile phone!   This service is currently available for Elisa subscribers only.
NEXT	Find a specific location. Find your nearest points of interest (POI). Example: "NEXT ATM".  Available POIs are: RESTAURANT, PETROL STATION, BANK and ATM... To find the nearest accommodation in Helsinki you could send e.g. "NEXT ACCOMODATION Helsinki". To scan through the results send "NEXT" only.  If your current position is unknown you will be asked to update it.
PORTAL or #	Request a link to the mobile portal. Send PORTAL and you will receive a link to our mobile portal.
RATE	You can rate services on the move. Send RATE + ID + Rating + Comment, such as "RATE o1234a 5 perfect service!" You can find the ID on the portal which is comprised of the last digits of the link to a service in the main portal, e.g. 179300 in http://www.visitfinland.com/web/guest/finland-guide/where-to-sleep/spas/detail/-/article-detail/10123/179300
ROUTE	Get a link to the mobile route planner.   Receive a link to the routing service of our mobile portal routing service. If your current position or destination is unknown you will able to enter these value ratings on the mobile portal.
WEATHER	Get the current weather forecast. Send WEATHER + location, such as "WEATHER HELSINKI" to receive a weather forecast for Helsinki. If you omit the location, your last know location will be used.
SUB_WEATHER	Subscribe to the regular weather service. Send SUBSCRIBE WEATHER + location, such as "SUBSCRIBE WEATHER HELSINKI" to receive the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks. To subscribe for another time period add the number of days (max. 21) at the end of the message (e.g. "SUBSCRIBE WEATHER HELSINKI 7"). If you omit the location your last known location will be used.
STOP	Cancel all your subscriptions.   Send STOP or CANCEL to cancel your subscription.
