Lusto, the Finnish national forest museum and an exhibition and activity centre was opened to the public the first of June, 1994. Located in one of the best known national landscapes in Punkaharju, south eastern Finland with an enchanting nature and cultural history, Lusto tells of the forests, their importance, and the interaction between man and forest.
Lusto, the Finnish Forest Museum tells of the multifaceted interaction between man and forests. The extensive basic exhibition tells in a higly illustrative variety of ways how the Finns have lived off the forest in different times. Numerous special exhibitions as well as the events and demonstrations open up additional viewpoints to Finland's forest culture.
Lusto Shop is the place to come for forest-related utility articles and ornaments to take home with you as presents. In the museun building there is also an excellent restaurant, Ravintola Lusto. Lusto with its neighbouring areas offers an excellent framework and an inspiring setting for a variety of different meetings, seminars and other events. Tours of the exhibition and excursions to the outdoors items of interest add to the value of meetings. Punkaharju within a walking distance from Lusto is one of the best known heritage landscapes in Finland.
