Caretaker Viljo Kaila’s family lived in Luostarinmäki from 1940 all the way to the 1970’s. They had three sons, to whom the museum was like an adventure park – once they even got to assist on a movie that was filmed in the museum.
Brothers Alfred and Hjalmar Kanervo were born in Luostarinmäki in a house were their family had lived from 1798. In 1932 Hjalmar bought an apartment next to their childhood home. In 1965 the house was donated to the museum and is still in the excact condition as it was when the brothers lived there.
Born in 1900, Hilma Mäenpää rented a small apartment from Luostarinmäki in 1965 and lived there for the rest of her life until 1982. The apartment with its belongings was donated to the museum. Visitors strolling in the museum can take a look inside these apartments.
