Laivasilta and Guest Marina

Loviisan Laivasilta attracts visitors from near and far with its restaurants and events. The red salt sheds, together with the restaurants, maritime museum, summer stalls and art exhibitions create a cosy, old-fashioned atmosphere.

The restaurants are open from May to September, the museum and exhibitions are open during the summer. A large number of events are organized on Laivasilta during the year, including the midsummer party, boat and rowing competitions, the largest of which is the Small Ships' Race, Muinaistulien ilta and the traditional Christmas market.

The sea has always had a major impact on the city, employment and the port. In 1745, the city was granted staple rights, i.e. the right to conduct foreign trade. Laivasilta used to have around 50 salt sheds, in which imported goods were stored, including salt, tobacco and spices.

Nowadays, the Laivasilta is used as a guest marina. In the vote for Guest Marina of the Year 2014, Loviisa Guest Marina received an honorable mention. Laivasilta is the home port of the package yacht Österstjernan.

From Laivasilta there are cruises by tour boat to the sea fortress Svartholm in the summer. Cruises on m/s J.L. Runeberg from Helsinki arrives at Loviisan Laivasilta when the summer is at its hottest.
