Johanna Lecklin: Lost Images, Hidden Stories 22.3. - 4.5.2025

Von 12 €

Johanna Lecklin’s exhibition “Lost Images, Hidden Stories” brings to light the silenced narratives of Finland’s Civil War.

Lecklin focuses particularly on the experiences of women and children caught in the turmoil of the Civil War. Drawing on historical archives, she also explores her own family’s wartime stories and Civil War sites in Helsinki. The exhibition features photography, textile art, moving images, and a spatial game installation.

The works addressing the Civil War also resonate with contemporary issues: societal polarisation, the dehumanisation of opposing sides, and the construction of enemy images can erode human rights and threaten democracy, even in today’s Finland. Through her art, Lecklin challenges these divisions and opens up opportunities for dialogue, seeking pathways to a more just society.
