The Tunturihaaste Kiilopää Challenge is a guided hiking event in Finnish Lapland. It can be your first multi-day hike or a memorable week with other outdoor enthusiasts in the wilderness of the fells.

The next event will take place from 9th to 15th of June 2026. The programme includes two hikes of different lengths. You can either take part in the more demanding seven-day hike, the Luirojärvi tour, or the easier five-day hike, the Tuiskukuru tour.

On the Tuiskukuru Tour, you will explore the vast landscapes of open fells, ancient forests, and the impressive Tuiskukuru and Kotaköngäs rapids of the Suomu River. Along the way, you will encounter stunning art formed by deadwood, roots, and charred stumps.

During the Luirojärvi Tour you will explore the gem of Urho Kekkonen National Park, Luirojärvi, which is located in the central part of the park amidst the magnificent scenery of Sokosti, the highest fell in Eastern Lapland. There has been a wilderness hut by the shores of Luirojärvi since at least the 18th century. Today, there are several huts, and hikers can also enjoy an open sauna.

The trails are not marked in the terrain. You can hike each day's stage either in a guided group or on your own. Every day, the guides ensure that independent hikers have reached the designated overnight spot. In the camp, you can reflect on the day's journey and anticipate tomorrow.
