Experience
Forest bathing is a memorable and beautiful experience in a quiet wintery forest, decorated with snow and ice – as long as you are wearing all the appropriate layers of clothing! The duration of the excursion will be adjusted according to temperature (anything from 0 to –20 C). Recommended minimum is one hour outdoors.
Leave all your worries at the edge of the forest and immerse yourself in the white, magical shapes and the peace of sleeping nature with all your five senses. In a small group of max 12 people, we'll walk slowly (with headlamps and lanterns if necessary, since it gets dark early) for about 1 km in nearby Nuuksio National Park (or alternative nature reserve by the sea) and enjoy the unique winter wonderland atmosphere via guided nature connection and sensory awareness activities, lead by a certified local Forest Therapy and Wilderness Guide.
Finally, we'll gather around a cozy campfire – either outside or for an extra charge inside a "kota", Lappish hut/teepee – to share our experiences and indulge in traditional soot pot coffee or tea, hot berry juice and Finnish pastries (vegans welcome). You'll also receive aromatic oil on your skin so you can continue to enjoy the therapeutic effects of the forest at home.
The healing effects of nature on the body and mind have been recognized for thousands of years across different cultures. Forest bathing, or "shinrin-yoku", was developed in the 1980s in Japan as a treatment for the stress and exhaustion of urban populations. This mindfulness-based method has since spread worldwide and evolved into a well-researched wellness practice that enhances the documented health benefits of nature, effectively reduces stress, strengthens the immune system, and recharges you with new vitality.
Request a quote for your own group for recreational days, team-building days, meetings, workshops, birthdays, or bachelor/bachelorette parties! The experience can also be made accessible for everyone.
