The statue of Ilkka is an impressive historical monument in Ilmajoki, in the heart of South Ostrobothnia. Completed in 1924, the monument honours Jaakko Ilkka and all the cudgel warriors who fought for the rights of peasants in the late 1500s. Designed by architect Matti Visanti, the statue's massive, castle-like structure symbolises strength and endurance.

Inside the statue is a circular, vaulted room with mosaic decorations that create a unique atmosphere. The four towers have places for signposts, recalling the ways of communication of bygone times. The area around the statue of Ilkka is historically significant, as it was the site of the former Ilmajoki church and the old cemetery, which can still be seen.

The statue of Ilkka is part of the Ilkka field, where you can also visit the statue "Raivaajapatsas", unveiled in 1954, and the Ilmajoki Museum. The annual Ilmajoki Music Festival, which brings culture and history lovers from all over Finland to the area, is held on the nearby banks of the Kyrönjoki River.
