Muhos church is the oldest wooden church in Finland that operates year-round. Muhos church was completed in 1634 at the latest. Together with the churches of Utajärvi and Säräisniemi, it represents a significant architecture of wooden churches in the River Oulujoki Valley.

The Muhos church is a block pillar church built by "the tower builder Hannu". During the Great Northern War (1714-1721), Russian troops ravaged Muhos church but did not burn it, so the church was restored to working order in the post-war years of peace that followed.

Muhos church is one of the destinations on the River Oulujoki pilgrimage route and also one of Rokua Geopark's cultural attractions.
