The scent of freshly baked bread, 100 different kinds of jam and marmalade, knitted and felted clothes, a horse whinnying happily, the sound of tractors in the distance, lots of colours from this year's harvest. This is just a fraction of what you can experience at the Åland Harvest Festival!
Above all, you will find a warmth of community between producer and consumer, between town and countryside, between mainlanders and islanders, between animals and humans, and between old and young. The warm spirit of the harvest festival makes people want to visit the countryside year after year and marvel and be fascinated by rural life.
The harvest festival is the highlight of autumn in Åland and the motor and beating heart of Åland's food culture. For three wonderful days in September you can enjoy the Åland countryside in the middle of its richest harvest time, learn about country life, shop directly from the producers and eat fantastic food made from local and seasonal ingredients.
The Harvest Festival is organised annually on the second to last weekend in September. It is a unique collaboration between local producers, organisations, artisans and merchants. There is something for everyone, young and old. Jump in the straw, meet the animals, ride a tractor trailer, find crafts and local products, feast on Axganic food and much, much more.
