Polar Night Light Festival 2027

Gratis

Experience one of the most magical winter events in Finnish Lapland as the Polar Night Light Festival 2027 transforms Ruka into a breathtaking world of colour, light and Arctic wonder. From 15 January to 7 February, the world’s northernmost light installation illuminates the snowy slopes and forests of Ruka, creating an unforgettable experience beneath the polar night sky.

The festival turns the darkest season of the year into a celebration of light. Spectacular light artworks, immersive installations and vibrant colours blend seamlessly with Kuusamo’s pristine winter landscapes, inviting visitors to step into a real-life Arctic fairytale.

While entry to the festival is completely free, the most unforgettable way to experience it is on the move. Glide through illuminated landscapes on skis, speed down the slopes on a Stiga sled, and immerse yourself in a world where light art and Arctic nature come together. A lift ticket gives access to the full spectacle on the mountain, including the iconic Kuru slope, where many of the festival’s most impressive installations can be seen up close. Don’t miss the hugely popular Ruka Coaster, which becomes part of the experience with special festival lighting, offering a thrilling ride through the glowing Arctic night. Every turn, descent and ride reveals a new surprise, making each evening adventure unlike the last.

Whether you're chasing unforgettable family memories, incredible photo opportunities or a truly unique Lapland experience, the Polar Night Light Festival offers a magical reason to visit Ruka this winter. Come and discover how the Arctic darkness can shine brighter than ever.
