Learn from high class services offered in one of the most extensive and unspoiled natural environments in Europe: Finland. Visit our stand F250 at IMEX and update your information on this Nordic country that is both a serene summer haven and a winter wonderland – and, according to the UN, the world’s happiest country, too!

Finland has a strong international reputation when it comes to organising corporate events and conferences. Finns are experienced event organisers, and all services are first class. Finland consistently ranks among the top 20 congress destinations in the world (UIA.org).

Finland’s untouched and pristine nature is at the core of Finnish life. Living sustainably and in harmony with the environment is deep-rooted and is an essential element of responsible travel. Therefore Visit Finland has launched the Sustainable Finland Label, which offers selected destinations and companies the possibility to showcase their actions and values by sharing best practices and experiences for the benefit of both clients and the local community. These pioneering regions and companies include for example Ruka in Eastern Lapland and the capital region of Finland, as well as Scandic Hotels, a leader in sustainability initiatives – all exhibiting at IMEX. The label will later be made nationwide to boost the communication and marketing of Finland as a sustainable destination.

When it comes to sustainability within the meetings industry, Finland is a forerunner. The Global Destination Sustainability Index measures the environmental deeds of cities and the performance of their local convention bureaus, as well as the commitment of service providers to sustainability. According to the latest global GDS Index rankings from 2018, Helsinki is ranked in 5th position, Espoo ranks 10th and Tampere is on 11th place on the global ranking.

At the end of Finland’s two-year chairmanship of the Arctic Council, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs introduced guidelines for environmentally sustainable meetings. The guidelines were followed for two years in all Arctic Council meetings held in Finland and they will also be followed in the future. The guidelines are available online for all meeting planners to use. Sustainability will also be a priority during the Finnish EU Presidency starting July 1st.
