The University of Oulu will host the UArctic Congress 2018 on 3-6 September. After Oulu, the congress travels to Helsinki for the 7th September, to be hosted by the University of Helsinki. The congress week will bring together 540 participants from 28 countries, of which 430 participants are expected to Oulu.
The UArctic Congress 2018 themes revolve around the priorities of the Finnish Arctic Council chairmanship, including the goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The highlights of the program in Oulu include the congress opening at the Saalasti Hall with speakers such as HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Prime Minister Juha Sipilä taking the podium, followed by a panel discussion on the sustainable development of the Arctic regions.
