The European Space Week is the leading event for the European space programmes in 2019. The event was organised by the European Commission, under the auspices of Finland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. It was the leading event for the European space programmes in 2019. The week brought together business, policy-makers, international experts and the space application user community. The conference took place at Helsinki Congress Paasitorni 2-5 December 2019.
The 2019 editions presented first-hand insights into the European Union’s Space Programmes Copernicus, EGNOS and Galileo and updated the participants on the New Space Economy, as well as discussed how space solutions can contribute to a sustainable Europe and a sustainable future.
The European Space Week 2019 offered an exciting constellation of events ranging from keynotes, discussions and conference sessions, which were complemented by a hackathon, an accelerator boot camp, a festive awards ceremony and more. The week addressed various space-related topics that interest different audiences, from policy-makers to start-ups, the public and authorities to industry players.
With a mix of keynotes, panel discussions, networking opportunities, business matchmaking sessions and exhibitions, it provided the perfect setup for a productive exchange of game-changing ideas, future trends and current challenges.
Isabelle Deniaud, Director PCO & Asset Development, MCI Benelux, tells about co-operation with the venue:
“One of the best venues I had the chance to collaborate with. Despite the complexity of our event (only 3 months of preparation, 5 day event, a 72 hours non-stop Hackathon, 1000 participants, 1 SME Fair, more than 20 different sessions and two large networking evenings, etc…), the Paasitorni hasn’t made the slightest mistake. Each member of the team has been a model of professionalism, efficiency and kindness.”
