Pirunvaara Hiking Trail

The Pirunvaara hiking trail runs through a gorgeous fir forest to the top of Pirunvaara hill, where there is a campfire site and great views of Lake Sokajärvi.

The trailhead is in Lohtaja that is only 3 kilometres from Kajaani city center. The trail runs through along mainly easy forest paths to the top of Pirunvaara where is a campfire site with firewood. A brave hiker can also discover natural caves there.

The trail is about 3 kilometres in each direction. There is a parking area next to the trailhead, near the junction of Sokajärventie and Satumaantie roads. You can follow the trail on foot or by mountain bike.

In winter, part of the trail is upgraded to a winter hiking trail, which is maintained on a weekly basis.
